CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 15, 2015 – In the Middle East almost everything is slightly off center. Weekends are on Thursdays and Fridays, calendars are lunar rather than solar, reading is done from right to left instead of the other way around and there are dozens of other examples where nothing is quite the way it seems.
So it should come as no surprise to hear John Brennan, director of the CIA, caution Americans against lumping terrorists with Islam. Said Brennan, “The notion that the West is at war with Islam is an ugly lie, and all of us, regardless of our faith, have a responsibility to reject it.”
OK, then who are we at war with? During World War II our primary European enemy was Germany. Not every German was a Nazi, but we still went to war against Germany.
The United States is not fighting Mormon terrorists. Or Buddhists. Or Seventh Day Adventists. How long has it been since the last Hindu suicide bombing?
Imam Syed Soharwardy of Canada claims that Prime Minister Stephen Harper is misusing the term “jihad” and, as a result, could be the catalyst for empathy with ISIS as a recruiting tool.
Here’s how Imam Soharwardy arrives at that conclusion. In Arabic, jihad is derived from the word jahada which all Muslims accept as part of their faith. When translated, the terms mean “struggle” which is the human battle everyone endures throughout their lives on earth.
Over time however, jihad has evolved to mean “Islam’s struggle against other religions” and, with contemporary media using the term on a daily basis, the original meaning has faded. Canadian Prime Minister Harper is simply using the word as it is most widely interpreted in modern society.
However, if you carry the imam’s logic further, Barack Obama must be accurate in his assessment that ISIS is not Islamic. If the Islamic State were Islamic, Muslims would be at fault, and everyone knows, or should know by now, that radical Islamic extremists NEVER make a mistake.
Which means that, according to Imam Soharwardy’s point of view, the Islamic State must be the creation of the West.
Therefore, black is white, inside is outside and the world is flat.
In order to add credibility to his claim, Soharwardy has issued a fatwa, a legal opinion based upon Muslim law, which has been signed by dozens of Canadian imams to state that ISIS was created by the West in an effort to “overthrow the Syrian regime.”
The fatwa further states that the Islamic State and other similar terrorist organizations are using U.S. and Western policies to control Muslims for their own gain.
As we all know, beheadings run rampant throughout the United States and, when sharp knives are unavailable, we always have a fresh supply of Middle Eastern gasoline and matches so we can burn victims alive in cages. It’s common practice.
Not to be left out of the equation, the media were also condemned for “intentionally promoting intolerance towards Islam and Muslims.”
Thus, the world’s most victimized society continues its “struggle” to overcome the misunderstandings of their purity.
The situation has become so topsy-turvy that one Western writer even speculated that “politicians and the media think they are helping Muslims by constantly praising and defending Islam. But by concealing the truth about Islam, they’re paving the way for young people to convert to Islam. And when young people convert, some of them actually study Muhammad’s teachings and realize they’re commanded to wage jihad. Our leaders are helping ISIS create future jihadists.”
Which is it? The Muslim imam says the media is guilty for “promoting intolerance towards Islam and Muslims” while a Western journalist states that “politicians and the media think they are helping Muslims by constantly praising and defending Islam.”
Does anyone see a contradiction here?
Either way you look at it, however, the West is responsible for the rise of the Islamic State. Forget the Koran, the Hadith or historical studies of the Prophet Muhammad’s life. All you have to know is that “ISIS is not Islam.”
Why not? Because Barack Obama, John Kerry, John Brennan and a Canadian imam told us it is not.
And, if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. Al-Qaeda is dead. Benghazi was the result of a Youtube…
