“Tawriya” is a key to understanding Barack Obama

CHARLOTTEN.C., April 14, 2014 — Whenever President Obama says, “Let me be perfectly clear,” it is a signal to run as fast as you can in the opposite direction.

It is time to be clearer about what “being perfectly clear” really means.

In Islam there is a doctrine, primarily held by Sunni Muslims, known as taqiyya. Sunnis derive their name from the word sunna which means “example.” The sunnah is regarded as the normative way of life for Muslims based upon the teachings and examples of the Prophet Muhammad.

Taqiyya is lying. Lying is permitted in Islam when it is used to deceive the enemy or to protect yourself against the infidels. Thus, normative Islam says that duping the enemy is a major facet of jihad.

Taqiyya, like most concepts in Islam, is considerably more complicated than this simple definition, but the basic premise is enough.

Beyond taqiyya however, there is a corollary known as tawriya which, though lesser known, is perhaps a more dangerous doctrine than its bigger brother. As the prolific Middle Eastern writer Raymond Ibrahim points out, tawriya allows Muslims to lie in virtually all circumstances provided that the lie is articulated in a way that it is technically true” (emphasis added). In other words, the doctrine of tawriya means that you can say something that means one thing to the listener, but is purposely vague to mean something else to the speaker.

Conspiracy theorists scoff at the idea that Obama would employ such a tactic, but the evidence says otherwise. Like the birther issue, the idea that the president is a Muslim is typically rejected as Obama-bashing perpetuated by the president’s fiercest opponents.

However, it is undeniable that the first third of Obama’s life was heavily influenced by Islamic teachings. Certainly the concepts of both taqiyya and tawriya were an integral part of that upbringing. In fact, during his first presidential campaign, the Islamic aspect of the president’s life was considered one of his strengths to deal with the complexities of the Middle East. Surprisingly, the arena of foreign policy has proven to be one of his greatest weaknesses.

Using simple examples by Raymond Ibrahim, it is not difficult to get the gist of how tawriya works. Writes Ibrahim, “if someone declares ‘I don’t have a penny in my pocket,’ most listeners will assume the speaker has no money on him — though he might have dollar bills, just literally no pennies. This is legitimate according to Islamic law … and does not constitute ‘lying.’”

In another example, Ibrahim explains that “it is permissible for a Muslim even to swear when lying through tawriya. Munajid, for example, cites a man who swears to Allah that he can only sleep under a roof; when the man is caught sleeping atop a roof, he exonerates himself by saying ‘by roof, I meant the open sky.’ This is legitimate. ‘After all,’ Munajid adds, ‘Qur’an 21:32 refers to the sky as a roof.’”

Transpose those examples into the phrase, “If you like your plan, you can keep your plan.” In that case, Obama was obviously misleading, yet when he was called down on it he simply used the familiar “that’s-my-story-and-I’m-sticking-to-it defense” which has been commonplace throughout his tenure.

A better example of tawyira would be Obama’s “hope and change” campaign philosophy. Though the words themselves are vague, there was no doubt about what the positive promises implied in Obama’s guarantee to “fundamentally change” America. Indeed he has done just that, only not in the manner that most Americans interpreted those words. It represented tawyira in its purest sense, because Obama knew exactly what he meant when he uttered those words.

Some people would just label it as politics as usual. In Obama’s case it is more sinister and devious than that. Omitting clarifying information while touting other facts and figures have become a hallmark of his presidency.

If it is true that more than seven million people signed up for Obamacare, it is not true that that many have paid for it. Television analysts have been pointing that out since the end of March when the president was taking his victory laps.

Since then Obama has been blaming Republicans for wanting to deny Americans healthcare which is also not true, but being “perfectly clear,” he can justify it through tawyira.

As for global applications, Iran is using the same process in its negotiations with us over nuclear weapons. Either Obama is being beaten by his own game or, more likely, he understands the situation and is doing nothing about it. Either way spells danger for the West.

The Pied Piper is leading his rats off the edge of a cliff, and the time has come for Americans to pay the piper because of it.

“Let’s be perfectly clear.” When Obama uses that phrase, it’s a pretty good bet that tawriya is lurking in the shadows.

I caught onto the “be clear” thing a while back. Every time he or someone in his administration said, “let’s be clear on this”, whatever they were talking about at the time turned out to be A BIG FAT LIE later on.

    • PatriotOne

Yeah, Julia, I’ve noticed it for the last several years that these politicians have been using that phrase and I always thought the same thing, “here comes a lie”. Especially when one of the Clintons used it, it was so obvious!

      • DC is Evil

Well, except when Bill Clinton said “Let me be clear”. That was code-speak to Monica that he was about to nut inside her.

  • thushjz

“Let me be perfectly clear, if you like your plan, you can keep your plan” then 2 people in my own family lose their health care plans in January including my son. Yeah…he’s a liar.

  • Troubleshooter

Let ME be perfectly clear: Barak “Barry Soebarkah” Obama is a Liar, a Thief, and a Traitor, and he is NOT eligible to be president. He knows it, Congress knows it, SCOTUS knows it, and The Joint Chiefs know it. Now, YOU know it, but, like everyone else, you’ll ignore it.

    • Jon Carry

If you had left out your pompous, pretentious, obnoxious last sentence I would have agreed with you. What’s it like being the only intelligent person on the planet?

      • Troubleshooter

I’m perfectly happy wearing the bad guy hat IF it provokes YOU or anyone else to do something OTHER than ignore it. Prove me wrong. Maybe we need a few more Pompous, Pretentious, Obnoxious sentences; show me something else that has worked. Sarcasm seems to be okay for YOU to use, so, maybe YOU should have some more of Your Own Kool-Aid?

        • Richard

I absolutely agree with what your saying. Now why don’t you do something!!!

          • Troubleshooter

            I have, and am. YOU?

    • Joseph Smith

following the sheep there are ya?

      • Troubleshooter

Do you SEE me anywhere around YOU?

    • Steven Wedig

What are YOU doing about it!?!!?

      • Troubleshooter

Wrong Question Steve. The question that would be appropriate would be “What can I do about it?” If you are current or former Military or Law Enforcement, you could start by pursuing membership in Oathkeepers. If not, you can pursue an Auxilliary Membership. Start there, OR if you are unable to participate directly, financial support is always needed. If you cannot figure the rest of it out, and take steps to be helpful, then perhaps you should just stay out of the way.

Whoever is left in this world who believes anything the puke says must be living in a cave. Obama’s having a great time destroying us.

  • Thomson Figueroa Nancy

Actually Obama did tell the Egyptian foreign minister he was a Muslim, and that was broadcasted on Nile Television for all the Brotherhood to know. His brother I am sure also acts as a go between for him as to his declaration of Islam under his breath. He celebrated Ramadan, jumped out of the White House for Christmas as a dismissal of the Holiday recognition. In Islam you can even deny Allah as long as you profess him in your heart, so Obama can say he is a Christian to win black Christian votes, but clearly Christianity was not his religion, thus he used the Christian blacks to get elected. He is working as an agent to promote Islam that is obvious.

  • Sandy Caruso

If Obama’s lips are moving…..yup he’s lying. It’s that simple. Perhaps Barack really being a Muslim might be why Michelle wants a divorce. As soon as he leaves the White House and she can no longer take extravagant vacations at the taxpayers expense is probably when the papers will be served and the divorce proceed.

    • rdlynn

A guy would need some steam after that…

    • DC is Evil

How pathetic must Barack be if someone as homely as Michelle is willing to dump him?

  • AZWarrior

He learned well in that madrassa in Indonesia. (Where AMERICAN CITIZENS were not allowed). But it also reminds me of when LIEberals say, “The fact of the matter is…..”, bullschitt usually follows.

  • randy brown

death to tyrants should be the cry across the country , the muslim hoard is at the gate and this thing has opened it and let them in……..

  • fights

What worries me even more than Obama’s lies are the American people who believe every word he says. It astounds me how many people hang on his every word. They will truly be following him right of the cliff, and taking us with them! UGH!

  • rahatshusain

I’m afraid you got most of the concepts in your article incorrect.

    1. Taqiyyah is a Shia Muslim concept, one which Sunnis do not like.

    2. Taqiyyah is a concept where you may deceive others in life threatening circumstances to protect yourself or other innocents. Its not some license to make up random nonsense.

    3. Tawriya is a concept present in the Holy Bible as well, in Matthew, 22:15-22 and St. Paul engages in Taqiyyah in Acts 23:6-9

    • haroldwolf

We are talking about Muslims deceiving us. I don’t think Christians are a threat.

Freedom of Religion doesn’t mean freedom to subvert the country or the Constitution.

  • elizabeth burgess

I’ve watched a few videos where Muslim men had continually said, that they will lie until every Infidel is dead. The individual said that no American should believe a word that comes out of a male Muslim’s mouth, because it will always be a lie re” peace. I have thought our president was a part of a major cell, sitting in the highest seat in the world. I believed this to be true, even before he was elected. So, him and his actions don’t surprise me at all. What surprised me, is how Dem’s don’t recognize this. Perhaps they’re too busy trying to get free phones, food stamps and unemployment. And I say this only to those who can work and decide not to. For those let fortunate, I know they need our help.

  • Tjstole

I’ve always felt the Prez is a master deceiver… Like when he says “Not a smidgen of corruption” he’s right. That’s because there’s a boatload of corruption!

    • Tjstole

Another example is when he said Healthcare wouldn’t cost an extra dime, he was right about that too. Instead it’ll cost a couple trillion dollars! Now at least I know where he’s learned deception so well.

  • paradigmshft

I am not an Obama fan either, but what you all seem to be missing is the other problem that the US government has, and that is the majority of our elected officials in Washington are Zionists. Washington in inundated by duel citizens of both Israel and the United States. The AIPAC runs our foreign policy and I hate to be the odd one out…they are not our friends either. To ignore this other half of the problem is typical of Americans. Even mentioning the misdeeds of this huge Zionist problem is met by throngs of people shouting, “Anti Semitic” or if it is a Jew voicing concern it is met with an equally loud, “self hating Jew” label.
