“ISIS is not Islam” – Just not according to the Koran

The Koran and the Administration disagree on whether ISIS is Islam.

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 13, 2015 – Even those with only a basic knowledge or a passing interest in understanding Islamic extremism knows that President Barack Obama has stated, and believes, on numerous occasions that the Islamic State is not Islam.

Not long ago, Danish psychologist Nicolai Sennels set about the task of comparing ISIS with the teachings of the Quran, a book that is indisputably “Islamic.” Sennels’ findings demonstrate how inaccurate and misguided the current occupant of the White House and, by extension, his administration are when it comes to the truth about Islam.

Following are eight examples of Sennels’ research.

Fact: The Islamic State commits ethnic cleansing of non-Muslims.
Quran: Sura (2:183) “Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God’s religion reigns supreme. But if they desist, fight none except the evil-doers.”

Fact: The Islamic State rapes female prisoners.
Quran: Sura (4:24) “God is forgiving and merciful. Also married women, except those whom you own as slaves. Such is the decree of God. All women other than these are lawful for you…”

Fact: ISIS cuts the heads off of non-Muslims.
Quran: Sura (8:12) “God revealed His will to the angels saying: ‘I shall be with you. Give courage to the believers. I shall cast terror into the hearts of the infidels. Strike off their heads, strike off the very tips of their fingers!’”

Fact: The Islamic State promotes terror.
Quran: Sura (3:151) “We will put terror in the hearts of the unbelievers.”

Fact: ISIS gives non-Muslims the choice between death and conversion.
Quran: Sura (9:5) “When the sacred months are over slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them. If they repent and take to prayer and render the alms levy, allow them to go their way.”

Interesting sidebar: Chapter (Sura) 9 of the Quran is the only chapter in the book that does not begin with the invocation “In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful.” The reason is because many scholars consider Chapter 9 to be a continuation of Chapter 8.

Fact: ISIS crucifies Christians.
Quran: Sura (5:33) “Those that make war against God and His apostle and spread disorder in the land shall be slain or crucified or have their hands cut off on alternate sides, or be banished from the land.”

Fact: The Islamic State persecutes Muslims who are hypocrites for not following a literal interpretation of the Quran.

Quran: Sura (9:73) “Prophet, make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home: an evil fate.”

Fact: ISIS allows Christians to live if they subdue themselves to Muslims and pay them money.
Quran: Sura (9:29) “Fight against such of those to whom the Scriptures were given as believe in neither God nor the Last Day, who do not forbid what God and His apostle have forbidden, and do not embrace the true Faith, until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued.”

As Nicolai Sennels points out, those who profess that the Islamic State is not Islam have, as yet, been unable to provide proof to the contrary. Furthermore, Sennels states that 75 percent of Muslims living in Europe believe there is but one interpretation of the Quran, which is the literal meaning of the book.

Shortly after John Kerry became Secretary of State, he mentioned that he had read the Quran as part of his indoctrination for his new position. Apparently Kerry read the abridged version, which omits the passages cited above.

Islamic apologists cleverly, and accurately, assume that most of the people to whom they make bold pronouncements about the “peacefulness” of Islam will not take time to read the Quran to verify what it actually says.

The word Quran translates to “recital.” Muslims have been reciting the Quran’s contents for 14 centuries and for the extremist fringes of the faith it is the prophet’s guidebook for how Muslims should live.

Thus a seventh-century ideal has become a 21st-century mantra, and, no matter how often someone attempts to convince others that it is not true, he will not alter the reality of its message.
