GIVAT SHMUEL, Israel, February 10, 2014 — Giving a platform to an unabashed Israel-hater once can be written off as a mistake. Following up that decision by seeking out an even more radical anti-Semite exposes an explicit agenda.
Fellow Community Digital News writer Jospeh Cotto has been checked by That’s Right I Said it in the past for repeatedly quoting radical anti-Israel journalist Max Blumenthal and allowing his assertions to go unchecked. After dropping Blumenthal as a source, Cotto has turned to Professor John Mearsheimer.
Mearsheimer co-authored the article and subsequent book, “The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy” with Stephen Walt. The main gist of this propaganda is that a great cabal of Jewish overlords have been pulling the strings behind the scenes in Washington, forcing Congress to take action that is in the best interest of Israel even when it is at odds with the interests of the United States.
As Dr. Mitchell Bard explains in the introduction to his book, “The Arab Lobby,” Israel’s detractors have embraced Walt and Mearsheimer’s book because its argument fits neatly with their fantasies about an all-powerful group of Jews who control U.S. foreign policy, but they should be offended by the racist paternalistic tone of the book.”
Bard is just one of many intellectual and well-informed experts to not only discredit the “Israel Lobby” argument, but have exposed it as the modern day reincarnation of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion that it truly is.
Cotto prints the words of this bigot as an authority on the Middle East. He veils Mearsheimer’s agenda by throwing in some recycled quotes from former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton, but the chosen Bolton passages do not at all address the facetious claims Mearsheimer had made just a paragraph earlier. In fact, while all of Mearsheimer’s screeds in the article are directed at Israel and their alleged maniacal control of D.C., Cotto quotes Bolton as essentially saying Israel is worried about Iran and they should be. This non-sequitur hardly justifies the printing of an anti-Semite’s blatant lies.
The most egregious of the conspiracy theorist’s claims is, “Given that the United States has and will continue to have a special relationship with Israel that has no parallel in world history, Israel will have a significant effect on American interests in the Middle East. Unfortunately, those effects will be largely negative. Although it is not politically correct to say so, Israel is a major strategic liability for the United States. It is one of the principle causes of our terrorism problem and it has played a key role in causing the United States to pursue foolish policies toward countries like Egypt, Iran, and Iraq.”
Many already know Mearsheimer to be a racist ideologue, but few can read the above passage and fail to see him as an ignoramus as well. It is baffling to see a professor who is supposedly knowledgeable with regard to the Middle East continuing to make the claim that America’s relationship with Israel is the reason radical Islam hates the U.S.A.
America is becoming an increasingly liberal country under the tutelage of the imperial President Barack Obama, but the majority of the “freedoms” that are being bestowed upon the American people are detested by radical Islam. Homosexuality, the removal of G-d from daily discourse and promiscuity thanks to subsidized birth control and abortions are just a few of the “rights” that have expanded under Obama’s tenure. If America had never even heard of the tiny island of Democracy in the most hostile region in the world that is Israel, it would still represent everything that radical Islamic culture rejects and has waged kital, or holy war, against.
Any student of radical Islam knows that the ideology of radical Islam is built on two tenants, Dara-al-Islam and Dara-al-Harb, or the House of Islam and the House of War. The house of Islam focuses on dawa, or community involvement, indoctrinating potential radicals through social programs and benefits while the House of War deals with all those who may get in the way of their aspiration to return the entire world to the times of Mohammad.
While it is perhaps understandable that a raging liberal such as Mearsheimer, who lacks any scruples of his own, cannot grasp the idea of men who are wholly dedicated to their principles, it is insanity to consider anyone ignorant enough to believe radical Islam hates America for any other reason but the fact that American liberty will never reconcile with Sharia lifestyle. The Red, White and Blue will be at war with Islam whether they chose to acknowledge it or not. As David Mitchell posits in his brilliant work “Cloud Atlas”, “peace, though beloved of our Lord, is a cardinal virtue only if your neighbors share your conscience.”
All of these arguments do not even begin to express the amount of work Israel does to help combat terrorism in every corner of the world.
This column calls on Joseph Cotto to immediately cease using John Mearsheimer as a credible source on Israel, the War on Terror and foreign policy unless he is planning on transitioning into a satire format. Additionally, please let Mel Gibson, Noam Chomsky, Roger Waters, Helen Thomas and the rest of the crew know that their services will not be needed in the end.
A man can be judged by the company he keeps, and on the page, Joseph Cotto’s company grows more suspect by the article. Defenders of truth and those who are truly concerned for the well-being of America, Israel and the rest of the free world please join That’s Right I Said It! in asking Joseph Cotto to live up to the name of his column, “The Conscience of a Realist”.
