DENVER, CO; January 5, 2015 – Walt Disney once said “We believed in our idea – a family park where parents and children could have fun- together.”

Planning a vacation can be a daunting task. It is definitely overwhelming looking for flights, ground transportation, resort rooms, park tickets, dining reservations and more.

However, the Walt Disney World website makes this process magical and surprisingly easy. The following guide will aide your planning the perfect Disney trip without pulling your hair out.

  1. Choose the right time of year

No matter what time of year you go to Disney you will have to deal with crowds. There are however certain times throughout the year that have considerably lighter crowds. The weather is also a huge factor in planning the right trip. Summer can be extremely hot and humid along with heavy crowds so if you are not a fan of one of those factors then summer is probably not the right time for you.

I just returned from a ten day trip to WDW the week before Christmas. Our first six to seven days were great, cool weather and moderate crowds. The last few days before we left the crowds grew tremendously and it was just too much for us..

Wait times were ridiculously long so we hung out at our resort mostly. Be sure to research the different events Disney hosts throughout the year to see if you are interested in any of those. The holidays at Disney World are beautiful even with the crowds. They also have an amazing Halloween party that is a ticketed event held on special nights in September and October.

A few of the other special events are Star Wars Weekends, Epcot food and wine festival, and Dapper Day.

  1. Give yourself plenty of time

There is no doubt that Disney is a very popular destination so when you’re planning your trip you want to make sure you get all of the reservations you want. Restaurants on Disney property allow you to make reservations up to 180 days in advance and believe me you need to make them this early.

Dining is one of my favorite parts about a Disney vacation and you definitely do not want to miss out on their unique dining options. Disney has also recently introduced a new fastpass system for rides, attractions, parades and shows.

To ensure you get a Fastpass+ for your most important experiences make your Fastpass+ reservations at the earliest time possible.

  1. Research

Research the resorts, the parks, the shows, everything! This will help you choose the right experiences for your travel party. There are many different resorts. Resorts are categorized by value, moderate and deluxe resorts. The categories are based on price and amenities.

There are several ticket packages and dining packages to choose from as well so research each one and choose the packages that fit your budget and needs.

(Insider’s tip: Take advantage of Disney’s Magical Express. It is a great service Disney offers to their resort guests. DME will gather your luggage for you and deliver it straight to your resort room while you and your family ride the shuttle to your resort and start your magical vacation.)

  1. Budget

It is totally possible to take a Disney vacation on a lower budget. They have many options for an affordable vacation. The things that will sneak up on you though are snacks, gratuity and souvenirs.

Sit down as a family and discuss your budget before you go so everybody is on the same page. Tell the kids they only get one souvenir or one sweet snack that day.

(Insider’s tip: You are allowed to take your own food and drink into the park. So save some money by packing your own water and snacks.)

  1. Confirm all reservations

About a week before your trip call and confirm all of your reservations to make sure nothing is missing. The last thing you want is to show up to dinner with a bunch of hungry kids and not have a place to eat.

  1. Download the My Disney Experience app

There is a magical app for smartphones called the My Disney Experience app. It connects straight to your Disney experience login and downloads all of your reservations to your phone, even your fastpass+ reservations. It also has maps of the parks, park hours and attraction wait times. It is a really great way to keep all of your plans at your fingertips.

  1. Relax

When you choose to stay at a WDW resort you are choosing a hassle free vacation. They take care of everything for you. You don’t even have to rent a car because they have transportation to and from the parks from your resort. Relax and let out your inner child because Disney is the place where dreams come true.

Walt Disney World is my favorite vacation destination for so many reasons but I love how they even make planning process magical. There is something for everybody at Disney and it is sure to be a wonderful experience for anybody who chooses to go.

Walt Disney has achieved his goal creating a magical place for kids and adults alike.
