LAS VEGAS, Nevada, October 20, 2018 – Results from an entertaining undercard event at The Park MGM Theater in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Conlan stops Cipoletta in seven
Irish Olympian Michael “Mick” Conlan (9-0, 6 KOs) got rounds in against Nicola Cipolletta (14-7-2, 4 KOs) of Italy, closing the show at 1:55 of the seventh for a TKO win. Conlan’s Irish fans in attendance, some of whom came all the way to Las Vegas from Belfast, flew their flags and cheered on their native son.
Conlan spent plenty of time during the bout working to the body of Cipolletta, who’s now been stopped in three of his last four fights. Conlan appeared more confident and says he feels he is becoming a more complete fighter. Conlan wants to fit in one more fight in 2018, which would be his fifth bout.
Nikitin notches second pro victory
Cheered on by his boisterous Boxing Laboratory stablemates, Vladimir Nikitin of Russia (2-0) won his second professional bout by unanimous decision over Clay Burns (5-5-2, 4 KOs) of Alexandria, Louisiana. Nikitin put in solid work, winning on all cards 59-54. Burns was willing to stand and trade with the 2012 Olympian. Nikitin and Conlan are surely on a collision course to settle their unfinished business, but Nikitin needs more time in the ring to catch up with Conlan at this point of their professional careers..
Adorno goes the distance to win UD against Cruz
In a matchup of undefeated Puerto Rican prospects, Joseph Adorno (10-0, 9 KOs) of Allentown, Pennsylvania barely missed two knockouts of Kevin Cruz (8-1, 5 KOs) of Waterloo, Iowa. But Adorno had to work harder this time, as Cruz was determined not to lose his undefeated record so easily. The pair took their six round featherweight fight the distance, Adorno’s first professional fight past three rounds. Judges scored it 59-53 X 2 and 58-54. Adorno nearly kept his knockout streak going, dropping Cruz hard to the canvas with 40 seconds left in the final round. But Cruz scored a moral victory by getting to his feet and getting to the final bell, the first to do so against Adorno.
Falcao remains undefeated with decision win
Esquiva Falcao (22-0, 15 KOs) remained undefeated with a 100-90 shut out on all three judges’ cards over Guido Pitto (25-6, 8 KOs) of Argentina. Falcao landed plenty of solid power punches throughout the fight, but couldn’t stop a tough opponent. The Brazilian Olympic medalist didn’t deliver a particularly thrilling fight for fans but got in solid rounds. Now it’s time for Falcao to face some opposition that will bring out his beast and his best

Featherweight Adam Lopez (11-1, 5 KOs) of Glendale, California won a war of attrition, stopping Hector Ambriz (12-8, 6 KOs) of Ensenada, Mexico just inside the eight round distance at 1:29 of round 8. Referee Tony Weeks stepped in when Ambriz took too many blows.
David Kaminsky (3-0, 2 KO) of Tarzana, California got the evening off to a quick start, blasting out Noah LaCoste (2-1, 2 KOs) of Houme, Louisiana at 40 seconds of the second round in their middleweight context. The “Lion of Zion” threw power shots from the opening bell, and had LaCoste down at the end of the first round. LaCoste beat the count but was essentially done. He came out for the second round, but after Kaminsky threw too many unanswered punches, referee Kenny Bayliss stopped the contest.
In the walk-off bout to end the evening after the main event, Fazliddin Gaibnazarov (6-0, 3 KOs) of Uzbekistan blew right through veteran Wilberth Lopez (23-10, 15 KOs) of Mexico in their super lightweight bout. It was all Gaibnazarov for two rounds until the contest was stopped at 2:13 of the second round. The newest member of the Boxing Laboratory in Oxnard was elated at his victory, getting a cheer from none other than Top Rank Boxing boss Bob Arum, who called out his congratulations.
