SAN DIEGO, April 12, 2014 – Will we witness the comeback of a great champion, or the redemption of a boxing champion denied the respect he believes he is due?
Tonight’s fight between superstar Manny Pacquiao and undefeated challenger Timothy Bradley has the potential to be a life-changing event. A decisive Pacquiao victory will keep the eight division champion at the top of the sport; a loss could send him into retirement. Any victory for Bradley must be a decisive one, more so than Pacquiao. Anything less than domination or a knockout and fans will refuse to acknowledge Bradley’s skills, record and legacy.
True fans of the Sweet Science are counting down the hours. And so are we at Communities.
Join us for a live fight chat online covering the action for you right here on Communities Digital News. We will get the party started with undercard fights at 9 p.m. Eastern, 6 p.m. Pacific Time, with the main event scheduled at approximately 11 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. Pacific.
Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KOs) needs to kill the seeds of doubt sown during his shocking knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez in December 2012, and the questions about his “killer instinct” from his decision victory over Brandon Rios in Macau last fall.
Bradley, undefeated at 31-0 with 12 knockouts is the current welterweight champion. Since his controversial victory over Pacquiao, he’s shown the heart of a warrior, going toe to toe with the relentless Ruslan Provodnikov in 2013’s Fight of the Year, then defeating the man who defeated Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez, in impressive form.
It all comes down to who wants it more. Pacquiao has the speed and power. Bradley is one of the toughest, best conditioned athletes in boxing. Both have something to prove to seal their career legacies. It’s high drama and true boxing heads love it.
Communities Digital News will host a live online chat starting with the undercard fights at 9 p.m. ET. Whether you’re watching or not, it’s a fun way to join fellow boxing heads and follow the action.
