Winners and losers from the inconsequential CNN Ohio Democrat debate

Written By | Oct 16, 2019

LOS ANGELES: When Democrats say something is the biggest issue of our lives, ignore them, Then wait a week. They will have moved on to their next inconsequential issue. For instance, do you remember when the DACA kids and kids in cages were the biggest crises requiring attention? Neither did the Democrats in this debate. The moderators indeed forgot about them and other issues they recently declared existential. The Ohio Democrat presidential debate featured moments of substance but was mostly inconsequential.

In three hours, there was not one question about Iran, Israel, China, North Korea, Harvey Weinstein and Matt Lauer, inner-city violence in Chicago & Baltimore, California homelessness, California gas prices, or the Jalen Ramsey trade.

CNN can be forgiven for the last one. NFL Network is on it, and ESPN covered the Washington Nationals effectively. As for the rest, the Ohio debate was mostly three hours of nonsense because that is what CNN wanted.

The Inconsequential Democrat Debate Issues

Attacking American businesses strengthens America’s competitors and enemies. Therefore, Democrats attacked drug makers over the opioid crisis but would not even mention much less criticize China for the synthetic drugs and fentanyl pouring into America.

All the candidates support impeachment but are not exactly sure why.

They are outraged at President Donald Trump for enacting a Syria policy on which they can agree. They are angry; he removed the troops but would not send the troops back in themselves.

No CNN Safe Spaces in the Presidential Debates

CNN provided a bubble-wrapped safe space for the candidates to, ahem, debate. President Trump will smash those safe spaces to bits in the general election and Presidential debate

He will begin the process of making the debate forgettable with his next rally in Dallas, Texas.
Until then, there were winners and losers from the debate.

Inconsequential Democrat Debate Winners:
Bernie Sanders:

He looked vigorous, vital, and was honest about raising taxes.

Joe Biden:

He survived totally unscathed about his son Hunter. It helped that Anderson Cooper shilled for him at the start of the debate.

Pete Buttigieg:

He successfully corners Warren on taxes. When it came to guns, Mayor Pete further exposes the vapid nothingness that is Beto O’Rourke.

Tulsi Gabbard:

She smartly criticized Hillary Clinton over her deplorables remark. China, Iran & other global threats.

Non-candidate winners:

The Washington Nationals and Jalen Ramsey. The former secured a major victory. The latter secured a major payday.

John McCain: Republicans who attack other Republicans on their deathbed get a permanent halo in Democrat circles.

Inconsequential Democrat Debate Losers:
Liz Warren:

She will not admit she will raise taxes on the middle class. Despite repeatedly being cornered. She is pursuing the Hillary Clinton strategy of evading voters through omission. Those who see leftist policies as wild-eyed would concede that Sanders is an honest crackpot while Warren is a dishonest crackpot.

Amy Klobuchar:

Her jokes fell flat.

Kamala Harris:

She passionately gave answers to question no one else was able to hear.  Ignoring what was asked.
The rest of the field: There were no distinguishing breakout moments.

Non-Candidate Losers:

Israel: 0 mentions.

DACA kids and kids in cages: They are yesterday’s news, and may now be less important than everything except climate change.

CNN: There was far too little fluff and barely any foreign policy. Softball questions were asked without any aggressive follow-up.
