Who really cares if Russia tried to hack our election

Written By | Jul 25, 2017

LOS ANGELES, July 25, 2017 — Since the day after he won the 2016 election, President Donald J. Trump has faced accusations that he colluded with the Russians to deny Hillary Clinton the White House. No evidence of any actual crime exists, but Democrats are still insisting that Russian interference is the biggest story in the history of history.

Once again, the hyperbole train has gone off the track. The Russia story is the least important story not involving climate change or gluten-free Priuses.

The fake outrage machine will insist that even if Russia did not decide the election, their attempting to hack our election is a big deal. Actually, it is not. From ordinary Americans, the proper response is a shrug of the shoulders.

Everybody spies on everybody. Young children reading Mad Magazine take joy in the antics of “Spy vs Spy.” We laughed heartily at Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd in “Spies Like Us.” Right now plenty of Americans are spying on Russia, Europe, Asia, the Israelis, the Arabs, and maybe even a few penguins in Antarctica. All of those groups except for perhaps the penguins are trying to spy on us.

President Barack Obama spied on everybody. Forget allegations. He was actually caught spying on German Chancellor Angela Merkel and trying to overthrow Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

When a low-level spy is caught by another nation where diplomatic ties are strong, the ritual is the same every single time. The spy is kicked out of the country they spied on. The aggrieved nation wags their finger and the aggressor nation expresses regret. This is followed by diplomats of both nations sitting down behind closed doors, sipping various teas, and vowing to do absolutely nothing to disrupt business as usual.

This has gone on for centuries between nations without ordinary citizens being affected in the slightest.

The people can ignore this. Government officials do not have that luxury. Government officials are not private citizens. They are the ones who should be concerned about spying. However, concern does not justify grandstanding, overreacting, and deliberately ignoring the problem.

The tired platitude is that action must be taken to prevent such an action from ever happening again. This is utterly meaningless because such action will not be taken. Democrats are proposing sanctions on Russia. Then what? Do they restart the Cold War or heaven forbid World War III?

The issue is not that the Russians attempt to spy on us. What matters is that spying may be successful. What matters is that elected officials take serious steps to make sure that cyber-security is improved so that future spying attempts on America fail.

This requires Democrats to face a real inconvenient truth.

Protecting the homeland requires hiring somebody with more intellect, ability, competence, reasoning skills, and basic understanding of the world than President Barack Obama. Like Tracy Morgan’s character on sitcom 30 Rock, Obama’s utter inability to understand anything was papered over because of his mixed race. Identity politics let his supporters convinced themselves that an utterly clueless adolescent with zero real work experience was qualified to protect the United States of America.

Arizona Senator John McCain obviously had a better understanding of geopolitical events than Senator Barack Obama. In a 2012 presidential debate, Governor Mitt Romney clearly articulated why Russia was a serious threat. Unable to argue with anything remotely resembling intellect or facts, Obama resorted to his junior high school playground rank-out contest behavior saying:

“The 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because the Cold War’s been over for 20 years.”

Obama won the election but never found out why waving pompoms and chanting “Hope, change, Yes we can” would keep us safe. Romney was proven right, but try finding Democrats willing to investigate why Obama officials were so unprepared. The Obama Administration faculty lounge pontificators were long on syrupy idealism and short on cold reality.

President Obama claims to have discovered Russian meddling months before the 2016 election occurred. He also claims to have stayed silent to avoid appearing partisan. This is laughably absurd. He stayed silent for the reason he stayed silent on a host of other issues. Anything that could be pushed until after he left office could be blamed on his successor. Nothing was ever his fault if it happened one day after his watch.

Barack Obama’s entire career has been about protecting Barack Obama. He has millions of enablers unable to cope with the fact that mixed melanin content will not turn a dolt into a genius.

Similarly, no amount of estrogen will turn longevity into accomplishments. An unqualified partially black man hired an unqualified woman to run American foreign policy badly (For the sake of diversity, he then hired an even more incompetent white male in John Kerry).

Democrats cannot and will not accept that they were in charge for eight years. If Russia hacked, then that hack occurred while Democrats were in charge. If Russia hacked, then the entire Russian reset was a failure. It was Hillary Clinton’s reset. She was Obama’s hire. It was their failure.

Democrats will learn nothing from this entire episode. They will not nominate a serious presidential candidate with any experience or ability of any kind. They are already touting California Senator Kamala Harris, the one person who may be less qualified to do anything than Obama was in 2008.

The story ends because Russia did not need help from the Trump family to hack America in 2016. They just needed an American government run by the unserious children reigning in the Obama White House who believed in a warm, fuzzy global family without borders.

Rather than blame Russia for acting in their best interests, it is long past time that America act in its own best interests. Stop blaming the opposing defense for repeatedly trying to sack us. Install a quarterback who is willing to read a playbook and understand what the hell it means.

If Obama’s government was hacked, then yes, poor little oppressed precious Obama deserves blame for allowing it. Attacking the guy brought in to clean up his failures is pathetic partisan politics by a Democrat Party that has proven bad at virtually everything else.
