CHARLOTTE, N.C., February 21, 2017 — Thanks largely to its long tradition of neutrality, Sweden regards itself as an international “humanitarian superpower.” Unfortunately, Sweden’s well established liberal mindset and political correctness are now rapidly eroding to expose a house of cards.
Sweden demonstrates clearly what happens when reality is ignored and abused by compassion. It is time for America to pay attention to Sweden’s plight.
For more that 15 years, Sweden has been taking in asylum-seekers in huge numbers. Sweden accepts more refugees in proportion to its population than any other nation in the developed world. No Western nation has been more generous with refugees that Sweden.
Swedish immigrants are not only predominantly Muslim, but they aren’t required to assimilate. That’s important; the lack of assimilation is a serious problem.
Muslims assimilate poorly, if at all. When it comes to locating additional housing, basic healthcare, and schools, Sweden does well, but when it comes to asking its guests to help take care of themselves, it drops the ball big time. Muslim immigrants do little to improve their own situation in their host countries, often expecting the host country to take care of them.
The problem for Muslims is simple: They cannot assimilate and be true to the teachings of their faith. There is no separation of church and state in Islam, which means that Muslims in Western countries turn to each other for answers to social and legal problems.
Trying to mix Islamic beliefs with those of other religions is like trying to blend oil and water.
Last week, an 8-year-old British boy was killed by a grenade in a suburb of Sweden’s second largest city, Gothenburg. He was caught in what is reported to be a gang war within the Somali community.
Gothenburg should be a Swedish community that has opened its doors to welcome Somalis, not a Swedish community with a separate Somali community.
Pope Francis claims there is no terrorism fostered by Islam. If that were true, then the young boy from England would still be alive. How does the pope justify his beliefs? He can’t.
Today, Stockholm, one of the most naturally beautiful cities in the world, feels much like late 19th century London. Pickpockets thrive in a city where police feel helpless, crimes against persons are up 7 percent, and rape and child abuse rates are up by 14 percent.
It wasn’t so long ago that Sweden was the envy of the world for its ability to make progressive social policies work. Those policies have cracked under the weight of nearly three-quarters of a million Muslim refugees in the last 15 years.
Consider the fact that in the 1970s, rape was a non-existent crime in Sweden. Today it has become such a breeding ground for gang rapes that the country is literally known as the “rape capital of the Western world.”
Something must have changed.
Not according to Pope Francis however.
On the other side, consider Japan. Dr. Mordechai Kedar, an Israeli military intelligence officer wrote, “The most interesting thing in Japan’s approach to Islam is the fact that the Japanese do not feel the need to apologize to Muslims for the negative way in which they relate to Islam. Thus, the Japanese make no bones about it: they are Islamophobic.”
How distressing and disheartening to witness in the United States of America half the country so obsessed with the results of an election that took place more than three months ago that they cannot recognize real problems in our society and throughout the world that need to be addressed. Rather, they prefer to bitch and moan because their candidate did not win.
More even than Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and other Western nations that have born onslaughts of Islamic refugees who drain the energies of their hosts, Sweden has become the poster child for Islamic political correctness.
Pope Francis, Angela Merkel and Barack Obama may say there is no such thing as Islamic fundamentalism or Muslim terror, but any reasonably level headed human being can easily see that they are wrong.
As it says in Matthew 15:14 of the King James Version of the Bible, “Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”
We have a choice, continue doing as we are doing or start digging.
