CHARLOTTE, NC: Surprise, surprise, Donald Trump nominates Kavanaugh, and somehow the stalwart father of two is a controversial selection. Imagine that. The dirt diggers have been out in force from the moment Kavanaugh’s name was mentioned. And you better believe they will find something, no matter how miniscule.
The first iota they will grab on is that he was on the Star investigation into Clinton saying in an article for the Minnesota Law Review from 2009 that Congress should pass a law “exempting a President—while in office—from criminal prosecution and investigation, including from questioning by criminal prosecutors or defense counsel.”
“I believe that the President should be excused from some of the burdens of ordinary citizenship while serving in office,” Kavanaugh wrote. “We should not burden a sitting President with civil suits, criminal investigations, or criminal prosecutions.”
Furthermore, Kavanaugh opined that the “indictment and trial of a sitting President” would “cripple the federal government.”
Of course, liberals will be forgetting that a lawyers opinion will differ from a jurists. Simply the waterline is different.
Trump nominates Kavanaugh and it is upsetting some Muslims
Naturally, the Muslim community is upset. After all they get angry about everything. In fact, they’ve been mad for 14 centuries so why should anything change now?
Mere hours after Trump made his announcement, Farhana Khera, Executive Director of the Muslim Advocates organization, issued a statement saying Kavanaugh would give the court a “green light” to Trump’s “bigoted agenda.”
That was the first of what promises to be a typical never-ending derth of negativity that will continue all the way through the confirmation process.
The response is nothing new.
It’s politics as usual as Washington while the media go into a feeding frenzy.
Whatever happened to allowing the system to work as it is designed; hold the hearings, cast the votes and let the chips fall where they may.
Thanks to a media suffering from ADD the American people can no longer be satisfied with the actual results of anything.
The Super Bowl, for example, is two solid weeks of speculation and anticipation until five minutes after the game is played. Following that, which is all the time the winner has to savor its championship, we are on to the NFL draft and what the future holds for next season.
NCAA bracket announcements are nothing more than a hype-fest to make money out of a non-story. Revenue by creating something out of nothing. Not only do most people forget who made up the Final Four within week after the tournament, many have already forgotten who won the trophy.
The present no longer exists in the world of entertainment, sports or politics. The past is used as a meter to gauge the credentials or lack of character of any political candidate for any office, while the future has become a cesspool of speculation all in the name of being first to break a story.
Trump nominates Kavanaugh but SCOTUS is not POTUS
According to Khera, Trump is notoriously hostile toward Muslims, immigrants, the LGBTQ movement, people of color and women. Which obviously must mean that Kavanaugh, simply by being nominated by Trump represents the same philosophy. He must see them as a Buffalo Bob and Howdy Doody team.
All of that is nothing more than code for the fact that since Khera, along with other opposition forces, despise Trump, by extension, his nomination will therefore automatically be bad for America.
In other words, oppose Kavanaugh’s nomination purely for the sake of opposition with no basis in fact and well before the confirmation process even begins.
Sort of, Mr. Khera, like saying that because one Muslim caused terror, all Muslims cause terror. Don’t you think?
Funny that Mr. Khera thinks that way
How ironic that a Muslim leader believes that adding Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court would be detrimental to religious freedom. Since when has the Islamic community ever had any concerns over religious freedom other than the freedom to advance their own agenda?
Khera isn’t the only contrarian. There will be plenty more to follow. Sadly, with media bias so entrenched on both sides these days, there is virtually no way to obtain an accurate evaluation of what Kavanaugh stands for until the confirmation hearings begin.
Only then will the American people be able to watch the process and make up their own minds about the genuine qualifications of the nominee.
In the meantime, the speculation, hoopla and controversy will continue. The dirt diggers have only scratched the surface so far. It’s a long time between now and October 1 when President Trump hopes to have his nominee confirmed.
Best thing to do is to simply sit back and enjoy the summer. Go to the beach. Play a little golf. Cookout with friends and pay no attention to the white noise presented by the media.
There will be plenty of time for the American people to witness for themselves the qualifications of Judge Brett Kavanaugh, and the absolute last thing we need is for a Muslim to dictate to us whether or not he should be confirmed.
