WASHINGTON. It’s the most ironic development in the never-ending Trump/Russia collusion witch hunt. Special Counsel Robert Mueller broke his silence long enough to torpedo a recent fake-news story by BuzzFeed. The media’s latest fable claims sources close to the Mueller investigation say the President ordered his former attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about a real estate deal in Moscow.
The lamestream media was on it in a New York minute. Trump impeachment imminent! That, or headlines like it, clogging the internet and the airwaves Friday. Until they didn’t.
Lies, damned lied, and the mainstream media
But, as quickly as it started, the fake news frenzy based on BuzzFeed’s unsubstantiated “news” scoop came to a screeching halt via a most unusual source. According to special counsel Robert Mueller’s spokesman Peter Carr, the Buzzfeed fabrication was a bit like Gertrude Stein’s Podunk.
As in, “There’s no there, there.”
“BuzzFeed’s description of specific statements to the Special Counsel’s Office, & characterization of documents & testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen’s Congressional testimony are not accurate.”
Translation: BuzzFeed lied and its mainstream media followers repeated the lie. Without question. Oops. There goes that Trump impeachment imminent fable.
Trump impeachment imminent. NOT.
Subsequently, this dashed the Trump impeachment hopes of House Democrats like Rep. Joaquin Castro of the House Intelligence Committee, who earlier tweet says:
“If the @BuzzFeed story is true, President Trump must resign or be impeached.
But Rep. Castro shouldn’t worry. It’s only a matter of time before a major media outlet reports that the House of Representatives has issued articles of impeachment and that a US Senate trial is underway, with a dejected Trump in chains before them.
Then current Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Lindsey Graham will have to issue a press release stating that the fake impeachment story is “not accurate.”
Hate-fueled hallucinations: Epidemic among Democrats and the fake news elite
Clearly, the media’s hatred of Trump has grown exponentially since he sidelined the new Democratic House majority through the partial government shutdown.
Most recently, Trump dealt House junketeers, led by new Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a surprise blow. Grounding this taxpayer-funded holiday, denying her use of military aircraft to hop around the globe. Pelosi apparently prefers vacationing abroad over confronting the partial government shutdown that she prolongs.
Starve the beast
But even more interesting, the soon-to-be-legendary partial shutdown has also led Deep State entities like the FBI to worry about its funding. That rogue agency has undermined Trump ever since he defeated Hillary Clinton for president. This ongoing campaign is what former FBI counterintelligence chief Peter Strzok called an “insurance policy.”
In a moment of high comedy, FBI Agents Association issued a letter saying restoration of its Department of Justice funding is a matter of “national security.”
They claim the FBI requires “rigorous and routine financial background checks to ensure that agents are financially stable and responsible.”
That suggests G-Men are one paycheck away from being susceptible to bribes and other forms of corruption. But recent revelations of FBI counterintelligence operations against a duly-elected president have already provided proof positive of that corruption.
Crimping the unconstitutional activities of a corrupt, “independent” DOJ
And our Federal courts are also running low on scratch. According to the New York Times, the Justice Department
“…is among the executive branch agencies whose funding has lapsed, and at the department’s request, some federal courts have issued orders postponing civil cases in which the Justice Department is a party while the shutdown continues.”
In other words, this could mean less unconstitutional interference against the executive branch from the lower courts. If so, President Trump could then fulfill his administrative duties to uphold existing immigration law. For example, he could actually exercise his presidential prerogative to deny entry to America by Middle Eastern men of a certain age.
So, is it any wonder the press is entering the end stages of Trump Derangement Syndrome? Nonetheless, note the rapid collapse of the “Trump impeachment imminent” non-story.
Now, the larger story is clear to anyone who reads, watches or listens to today’s babble of fake news. The completely incoherent, one-time mainstream media has been reduced to reporting as fact the wishful thinking of a cash-starved, weaponized Washington D.C. establishment.
Meanwhile, as of this writing, the fake Buzzfeed anti-Trump fable continues to run, uncorrected, on that site’s front page.
