TAMPA, Florida, June 17, 2014 ― Liberals who are shocked at the poor debate performance of Barack Obama simply cannot grasp that they projected beliefs about him onto him that may have never been grounded in reality.
One myth about President Obama that is just supposed to be accepted as a “given” is his extraordinary intelligence.
Maybe, just maybe, he is not as bright as his supporters insist he has to be.
There are forms of real intelligence and fake intelligence, and many otherwise bright people have been known to elevate others to the level of “intelligent” when that designation is undeserved.
Fake intelligence is everywhere, and the examples are legion.
Hot girls: There is zero correlation between physical attractiveness and mental acuity. No man wants to admit that the girl he is lusting after may be a “bimbo,” so her having spectacular (redacted) and (redacted) means she must have a brain. The reverse is true for the other gender. No woman ever wants to be seen as confusing beefcake with substantive intellect. After all, that would make them as bad as men, which is the worst insult to be leveled at women according to them.
European accents: Many liberals assume that anybody possessing a European accent is automatically “worldly” and “sophisticated.” Hollywood in particular worships Europeans just for the way they sound. This is in contrast to the “ugly Americans” who sound like riff-raff. It is possible that the entire conntinent of Europe contains more than a few utter imbeciles, and that is before even getting to the disproportionately large group known as “the French.” There is no connection between geography and brain power.
Loud people: Some people think that loud people have energy and enthusiasm, and are therefore smarter. This is Chris Matthews Syndrome. Those who are quiet do not know anything, because if they did they would speak up and say so.
Quiet people: Conversely, another school says that quiet people are brilliant because they are deeply contemplative. Supporters of this notion have never heard of the concept of “spacing out.”
Ideology: Although there is no correlation between political ideology and intelligence, liberals do consider conservatives to be imbeciles simply for being conservative. Any conservative who fractures his syntax must be a complete dolt, while this affliction does not produce the same conclusion if one is left of center.
If real intelligence is to matter, then words such as “brilliant” and “exceptional” should not be thrown around cavalierly. 95 percent of people are within two standard deviations of average. 99.7 percent are within three standard deviations. So the truly exceptionally bright people in society are the remaining 0.15 percent at the top end of the distribution. Evaluating these people should be based on the say so of others, not their own say so. It should also be based on evidence, not by blind worshipful idolatry.
Using honest metrics, it is fair to say that Dr. Charles Krauthammer is intelligent. While nobody comes anywhere close to Dr. Krauthammer, Dr. Thomas Sowell is also exceptionally bright. Despite all of his moral failings, former President Bill Clinton is a bright man.
No evidence exists to suggest Barack Obama deserves the recognition as brilliant. He gets it in the same way he was given a Nobel Peace Prize without having actually caused any world peace. Obama very well could be intelligent, but his college transcripts and thesis are sealed. Insight into the depth, breadth and width of his critical thinking is hidden from society.
In college he admitted to being a slacker and a stoner. Those are usually not the best and brightest people.
So what does Obama possess that has his supporters in awe?
He has “Melanintelligence.”
Melanintelligence equates darker melanin content with intelligence. Crackpot studies that have long been discredited tried to advance the notion that a darker pigmentation meant a higher intellect. Today the overwhelming evidence has conclusively proven that no combination of pigmentation makes any human being inferior or superior to another one.
Also, it does seem more than a tad coincidental that melanintelligence is only applied to politically liberal blacks. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is often derided for having below average intelligence, since apparently his conservative ideology offsets his pigmentation. Dr. Sowell is simply not mentioned.
The reason why the left praises melanintelligence is because everything they believe in is wrapped up in a man who on the surface is shallow and mediocre. Obama is not a “dummy.” He is not in the very bottom .15%. He is simply with the rest of the mere mortals somewhere within statistical striking distance of the median. He is average.
Yet because he was held up by the left to be an intellectual titan, he has to remain one. It is not his house of cards that collapses by proving otherwise. It is theirs. If they backed a false intellect, then maybe they themselves are shallow pseudo-intellects who confused melanintelligence with actual impressive insight.
If Obama is not as bright as they thought, and cannot even communicate without a teleprompter, then maybe they have bad judgment.
They are liberals. Of course they do. Conservatives saw through Obama.
Not so bad for a bunch of rubes in Middle America who do not even swoon over melanintelligence in an attempt to create segregation and segmentation by making us pigmentation nation.
Here is a word for liberals. Try “meritocracy.” Look it up. Obama’s picture is not there.
