COLORADO SPRINGS: Venezuela’s interim President Juan Guido declared this morning “The moment is now!” as people take to the streets in Caracas and other Venezuelan cities to remove the socialist dictator Nicholas Maduro. Yesterday Guido called on the military to support the people and the constitution. He has named the effort “Operation Liberty.”
In a video released on Twitter, a 21-year-old soldier who left the security forces of the Maduro dictatorship says,
“My family and all Venezuelans encouraged me.”

Fox News aside, there is little reporting on American media, but in situations like this, Twitter is alive with photos, videos, cartoons, and memes. The hashtags are #Venezuela, #VenezuelaLibre and #OperacionLibertad.

The evils of socialism have finally proved too much for Venezuelans.
Venezuela used to be one of the richest nations in Latin America. Then they voted for socialism. Hugo Chavez nationalized the oil industry and began the socialist transformation of his country.
In April 2009, then-President Barack Obama visited Hugo Chavez and shook his hand. It was reported by ABC news at the time, in an article that has since been removed. Leftists in this country loved Chavez.

When Chavez died, his successor was Nicholas Maduro
Maduro did have the support of the Venezuelan generals.
As the socialist regime slowly devolved, the Venezuelan people were reduced to eating their pets. Even zoo animals were not safe.

Maduro refused humanitarian aid, stopping it at the borders.
Predictably, from Cuba today we hear that this is a military coup. But anyone watching the videos can see that this is a popular revolution by a people fed up with socialism.
Socialism always ends this way. Always. The Soviet Union. Poland, Romania, Hungary, Ukraine, Cambodia, and many others. Every. Single. One.
Once in power, socialists never relinquish power voluntarily.
One tweet noted that the timing of today’s revolution is fitting because on April 30, 1945 Adolf Hitler committed suicide. It remains to be seen what Maduro will do. But one thing seems pretty certain. Tomorrow socialist celebrate May Day as lovers of freedom will cheer over the death of yet another socialist nightmare.
