WASHINGTON, August 30, 2014 — A new smartphone application just launched that allow users to identify the political affiliations of the manufacturers of products they buy.
On the iTunes Store page, the company’s tagline reads: “BuyPartisan works like a nutritional label for your political values.”
The app’s creator matched the products Fortune 500 companies with their campaign finance data. The bar code can be scanned while in the store and before purchasing, to immediately find out the political contributions of each company’s CEO, Board of Directors, political action committees, and employees.
You can then decide whether you want to support this is a company with your business.
Notice how much more money Coca-Cola, Conagra, and Dean Foods give to Republicans. Do not buy their products, unless you’re a conservative. Then buy away.
But there is a huge problem: What good is identifying the ultimate destination of your grocery dollars if you can’t broadcast the results of your buying decisions to everyone? In this day and age, is a symbolic gesture really worth it if you can’t announce it to everyone in social media?
And if you’re really into Diet-Coke, are you going to change to a no-dye, cane sugar alternative, just because you’re a liberal?
So we have two new app ideas that will take this basic concept and turn it into something that people can really get excited about:
WatchMeSaveThePlanet: This app allows users to snap a selfie while dropping off their recyclables at their local curbside, or show how neat and tidy their curbside bin is.
Users can also log the quantity of of goods recycled to keep a year-to-date total of how much planet-saving they have done. Pics and statistics will auto-sync with with either Imgur or Reddit.
HearMeCare: This app, similar to SoundCloud, records and stores audio. But it also has a GPS function, so other activists will know where exactly you are shouting and screaming with other correct-minded folks about the world’s latest injustice.
A handy drop-down menu of protest-worthy causes allows you to quickly identify the issue being yelled about.
Keep posted here, where we’ll continue to stay on the cutting edge of making fundamental-changing differences in everyone’s lives while making sure smug condescension is perfectly maintained as well.Click here for reuse options!
