WASHINGTON: The continued shutdown of the government is good to the extent the government is shut down. Most estimates are that about 25 percent of the U.S. Government shut down. The good ends there. A better shutdown would be, perhaps all of it. Then a return to some kind of federal system. No. There is no federals system now. There is a corrupt national system.
In May 2013, Charley Reese, a syndicated columnist for the Orlando Sentinel and LewRockwell.com wrote an article on the subject of government.
ln that article he concluded:
1. Government is inherently incompetent, and no matter what task it is assigned, it will do it in the most expensive and inefficient way possible.
2. The American government is corrupt from top to bottom.
3. If you rely on the mass media to inform you about your community, state, and nation, you will, with rare exceptions, be woefully ignorant of what is really going on.
4. The universal franchise is a bad idea. The notion that the destiny of the nation should be put in the hands of ignoramuses, parasites, boobs, party hacks and idiots is absurd on its face.
5. Public education in America is a failure and is so flawed it cannot be reformed.
6. Not much has changed in the past 5,000 years of human history.
If you rely on the mass media to inform you about your community, state, and nation, you will, with rare exceptions, be woefully ignorant of what is really going on.
The universal franchise is a bad idea.
The notion that the destiny of the nation should be put in the hands of ignoramuses, parasites, boobs, party hacks, and idiots is absurd on its face.
Public education in America is a failure. Its flaws are such it cannot be reformed.
Not much has changed in the past 5,000 years of human history.
Each point above seems to be easily confirmed by the daily observance of the incompetence in the government of the nation. Now the present national system argues within itself whether to allow illegals to come into “the country” or whether to accept them as “huddled masses” on a legal basis.
Then they dicker over a measly 5 Billion dollars while they spend almost a trillion dollars on defense.
The intent of the original 13 colonies
The original 13 colonies did not form themselves as a nation of immigrants but as individual governments under separate covenants directed from the English Crown. These colonies were to become, as stated in the Treaty of Paris, independent states as autonomous as France.
No single Declaration of Independence had declared them a solitary state and nation regardless of the theatrical creations of the Victor Davis Hansons or Dinesh D Souzas of the history-to-histrionics world.
The 13 colonies/states were local. Immigrants gaining entrance only due to ability and willingness to assimilate. They did not independently or as a unit, welcome any huddled masses. Within these separate governments, there were even more localized governments although each state had a central authority.
But the watchword from the early settlements was “local.”
Becoming a United States
The first coming together was under Articles of Confederation restating the independence of each state. The subsequent (and present) constitution as well was a reflection of free and independent states—not A single state. This, again, was and what is a confederation. Not a national government with a single central authority with a cataclysmic shutdown caused by the welcoming to any wanting number of random masses including random criminals.
Who with, of course, minimum exposure to public education or political twaddle from the national system of party members and Washington bureaucrats, can deny that every point Reese made is not true.
Go ahead and shut the national government down.
The government is corrupt. It is wasteful. It is a lie to history. Non-local central authoritative governments have ultimately run headlong into disaster.
The last time the disaster was successfully corrected in the western hemisphere was in 1775-83. A second time was in 1861-65. It failed. It failed and has been protected as a great success in history by those crying racism for anything between ground and sky and a love for national governments as opposed to federal ones.
The neocons (fake conservatives) and liberals (fake liberals) love the confrontation in Washington. It gives purpose to their political games of gainsaying to each other as if they care about the people, the taxpayers.
The truth is that they don’t believe that citizens’ lives matter. Anyway, as far as this citizen is concerned: Shut the damn thing down for good!
