Golub: President declares political war Rice and Power nominations

LOS ANGELES, June 6, 2013 — Forget comity and coming together. President Obama declared all out war on Congressional Republicans with a pair of cabinet decisions meant to spark maximum outrage.

Safely reelected, Obama deliberately picked the most polarizing nominees possible.

National Security Advisor Tom Donilon stepped down, creating an opening. The NSA does not require Senate confirmation, and Obama promoted United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice.

Rice saw her potential nomination to be Secretary of State scuttled due to the Benghazi debacle. After four men were murdered by Radical Islamists, Rice was sent out on all five Sunday talk shows to offer altered talking points blaming an anti-Muslim video.

When Rice refused to answer who gave her the talking points, Republicans blocked her from Foggy Bottom. An angry Obama warned of consequences, and this nomination is payback.

As destructive as Rice’s nomination is for the ability of congress to work with Obama, his next nomination was far worse.

To fill Rice’s current position, Obama chose Samantha Power. Power is the wife of Cass Sundstein, who is the main individual behind the worst elements of Obama’s “green” agenda.

Marriage aside, Powers comes with tons of controversy. In 2008 she was relegated to the sidelines by the Obama campaign after calling Hillary Clinton a “monster.” She apologized for that remark.

Her hostile attitude toward Israel makes Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel look like Benjamin Netanyahu. Even politically liberal Jews insist that Power was not an official Obama adviser, despite his frequently following her foreign policy recommendations.

If this does not cause the politically liberal Jewish community to realize Obama’s true intentions, then nothing will. Like many he believes Israeli “settlements” in “Occupied Palestine” are what is causing the entire Middle East to suffer.

Power leads the blame Israel charge. Her writings are there for the world to see.

While Obama’s intelligence is often overstated, these were cunning moves. Power is so polarizing that she distracts from Rice. The two of them combined are a form of “overloading the system.”

News briefly shifts away from the IRS, AP, and Benghazi scandals, and delays work. By offering so many unqualified individuals for positions, Republicans have to let some through. Otherwise it looks like they are obstructing everyone.

Obama benefits by having two more female human shields to hide behind. Republicans are forced to swallow some awful personnel and avoid sexism charges to focus on the absolute worst.

Power is the absolute worst, and her nomination does require Senate confirmation. This one could, and should, be a political bloodbath.

Obama’s introductions of them had conservatives confused over whether to laugh, cry, or scream.

Obama introduced an “exemplary public servant, Ambassador Susan Rice.”

Exemplary means going on television and lying to America either willingly or because she was set up as the fall girl by Hillary Clinton.

Neither explanation reflects well.

Rice was a “trusted adviser during my first campaign for president.”

That is not a qualification. That by itself is cronyism.

She is a “scholar,” and a “consummate public servant, a patriot who puts her country first.”

Four men were left to die, and she chose to put her president and his ideology above the truth. That is the precise opposite of putting country first.

She has a “great tennis game, a pretty good basketball game.”

How charming.

She has “reinvigorated American diplomacy.”

Iran is building a bomb, Syria is committing internal genocide, and North Korea is flouting the world. America’s enemies are reinvigorated.

She represents the “finest tradition of American diplomacy and leadership.”

Apparently Obama confused her with President George W. Bush’s pick, Dr. Condoleeza Rice.

Obama then offered what he considered to be praise of Power.

She is “one of our country’s leading journalists,” and “one of our foremost thinkers on foreign policy.”

A journalist? A thinker? A president who never held an actual job hired another expert who never did real work to be our ambassador to a body that is the last stop of useless individuals worldwide. Yet some of these plutocrats represent mass murderers, and it might be nice if somebody with real world experience faced off against them.

Writing position papers from “Hahvahd” does not prevent terrorism.

She “made America safer, made America’s values live.”

Radical Islamists are murdering people globally with no meaningful consequences.

Obama praised both women for “their intelligence, their savvy, their integrity in their heart.”

Jim Carrey in the movie “Liar, Liar” insisted that a red pen was blue. That did not make it so.

Yet the most horrific insulting comment in Obama’s entire offensive actions on this day came when he praised Power for “fighting the scourge of anti-Semitism.”

Dead wrong. For the few unaware, Power is the scourge of anti-Semitism.

Her record is there for all to see. There is legitimate criticism of Israel. Then there is hiding under the fig leaf of legitimate criticism to maintain an anti-Israel bias. Then comes hiding behind anti-Israel, anti-Likud, or anti-settler bias to cover for what is explicit Jew hatred.

Accusing Israel of genocide against the Palestinians crosses every conceivable line separating policy criticism from anti-Jewish bigotry. Palestinian Suicide bombing is genocide. Israel is Disneyland.

Bigotry charges should never be made lightly, and Power should never be taken lightly.

Liberal Jewish Obama worshippers spent years denying her influence so they could sleep at night. Now she is there front and far left of center.

She is the author of the “Doctrine of Mea Culpa.” She believes that an American apology tour that Obama denied being on would be appropriate in the same way Germany made amends after the Holocaust.

President Obama surrendered to the world but declared war on Republicans with these horrendous nominees. For the sake of a sane world, Samantha Power must never be confirmed by the Senate.

Obama picked a fight, and this is one time conservatives had better be prepared to hit back hard.
