New handgun marketed to women in India

MILLINOCKET, Maine, January 19, 2014 –The Indian Ordinance Factory in Kanpur, India has announced that the company is manufacturing a handgun intended to arm women against the rising number of rape incidents across India.

This alarming trend became world news after international media picked up the story of a gang rape and murder aboard a bus in New Delhi.

The pistol called “Nirbheek,” a .32-caliber revolver, is very light and can be carried in purses or handbags.

NPR’s The Two-Way blog is apparently the only American outlet to first report this story.

I wonder why someone from NBC, CBS or ABC didn’t report this? Could it be that they have an agenda of ignoring or downplaying the role of personal protection using handguns?

Naaah, it couldn’t be.
