WASHINGTON: The mainstream media has covered for President Bill Clinton’s sexual dalliances so long, they don’t quite know how to fit him into the #MeToo paradigm of today’s damsel-in-distress feminism. And with the 20th anniversary of the Monica Lewinsky affair fast approaching, the media has made ham-fisted attempts to make up for lost time. Claiming the rehabilitation of Monica Lewinsky.
A proud moment in progressive history
When NBC’s Craig Melvin asked the former president if he ever offered Monica Lewinsky a personal apology for dragging the doe-eyed White House intern into the national spotlight, Clinton was livid.
Clinton claims his $16 million in debt for legal fees was punishment enough. And that his broad apology to the nation was more than enough for the woman whose pretty blue dress he soiled.
The sage of late-night T.V.
CBS’s “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert, one of the new late-night-talk-show host consciences of our nation, asked the graying skirt chaser:
“Do you understand why some people thought that was a tone-deaf response to his [Melvin’s] questions about the #MeToo movement and how you might reflect on your behavior 20 years ago, and how that reflection may change based on what you’ve learned through the #MeToo movement?”
Clinton hemmed and hawed, and insisted he already gave his apology to “my family, to Monica Lewinsky and her family, to the American people.”
And, as always, insisted #HeToo was a victim in all of this. “I’ve had to live with the consequences every day since,” Bubba said solemnly.
As an afterthought, he added:
“This #MeToo movement is long overdue, necessary, and should be supported. And I’d like to think that we’re all getting better as we go along.”
Enter Monica Lewinsky, our damsel in distress
For her part, Monica Lewinsky recalled in Vanity Fair her…
“… many years of personal-counseling work (both trauma-specific and spiritual) … [arriving at] a place where I now embrace opportunities to move into spaces that allow me to break out of old patterns of retreat or denial.”
Clinton victims Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broderick were acceptable sacrifices to the political demigod once worshiped by these disgusting hypocrites.
And then the tormented ingénue wrote:
“As Salman Rushdie observed after the fatwa was issued against him, ‘Those who do not have power over the story that dominate their lives, power to retell it, rethink it, deconstruct it, joke about it, and change it as times change, truly are powerless, because they cannot think new thoughts’… I have been trying to find that power – a particularly Sisyphean task for a person who has been gaslighted.”
That is truly breathtaking.
In 1989, Iran’s Ayatollah Ruholla Khomeini issued a fatwa ordering the globe’s Islamic faithful to murder Rushdie. That’s when the author went into hiding for a decade.
You see, his magical realist novel, “The Satanic Verses,” was blasphemous according to Iran’s ruling madman. That is hardly on par with Ms. Lewinsky’s unwelcomed fame for performing fellatio on the Arkansas Creeper.
The “Sisyphean task,” therefore, is for us to remain straight-faced at the mainstream media’s preposterous notion that Monica Lewinsky is worthy of this year’s #MeToo Long-Time Service Award – or, for that matter, an apology.
Lewinsky was a 22-year-old woman and a willing participant in her two-year affair with a married man.
Again, she is no victim.
The villain’s abettors
And it’s not just Bill Clinton that needs to answer for past sexual crimes. There are also today’s preachy #MeToo feminists and the media.
Back in 1998, Anita Perez Ferguson, president of the National Women’s Political Caucus, explained to the Scripps Howard News Service why it was difficult to call out Clinton for his sexual predation:
“When it comes to the president’s support of abortion rights… just to name a few, Clinton has greatly advanced women’s causes.”
As New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd recently noted, where Clinton was concerned…:
“… the public and private were always intertwined in an inextricable and unappetizing way… The desire among his supporters for a liberal agenda was held hostage to Bill Clinton’s libertine appetites.”
And this is why the sudden and shrill denunciations of Clinton by #MeToo feminists and the mainstream media rings so hollow.
The Clinton death-cult alliance
They were all on the Bill Clinton bandwagon so long as he promoted modern feminism’s fatwa against the innocent unborn.
And to that end, Clinton victims Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broderick were acceptable sacrifices to the political demigod once worshiped by these disgusting hypocrites.
