Kevin Spacey and Hillary Clinton talk Bill’s birthday

WASHINGTON, August 16, 2014 — Kevin Spacey, a strong supporter of the Democratic Party and friend of Bill Clinton, has teamed up with Hillary Clinton to do a video parody for Bill Clinton’s 68th birthday. The video accomplishes quite a bit in one minute and 20 seconds – it is a birthday promo for Bill, another presidential campaign positioner for Hillary, and an endorsement for Spacey’s House of Cards all in one.

The video shows Spacey as House of Cards’ Frank Underwood impersonating Bill Clinton. Underwood calls Hillary to prod her into telling him the birthday present she’s planning to purchase. Hillary responds, “This is  very personal decision, that I will make when I’m ready.”

Spacey became friends with former President Clinton during Clinton’s campaigns, when Spacey was a high profile supporter. Since then, the two have remained close, and have appeared at fundraisers, Wimbledon, and even Starbuck’s together. Spacey also put on a special show of “The Iceman Cometh” for the Clinton’s.

Spacey is still an admirer of the Clinton’s. Last year, he spoke to a UK journalist about Bill Clinton, saying, “What he’s doing is extraordinary and, frankly, a damn sight more than what the federal government has done, certainly for Africa. The Clinton Foundation has done a remarkable job in getting the pharmaceutical companies to make deals on the in vitro drugs in Africa, sometimes for nothing, sometimes for huge discounts.”

Spacey is a genius with impersonations. In a July 2000 appearance on “Inside the Actors Studio,” Spacey did a brilliant nine impersonations in six minutes, including Jimmy Stewart, Johnny Carson, Katherine Hepburn, Clint Eastwood, Marlon Brando, Al Pacino Jack Lemon and Christopher Walken.

Spacey has also regularly impersonated Clinton, including an appearance where he imitates Clinton praising, “House of Cards.”

Spacey was born in New Jersey, the youngest of three children. He began acting in high school and changes his last name from Fowler to Spacey, his mother’s maiden name. He has won two Oscars and, despite his popularity in Hollywood, considers himself a stage actor.

Bill Clinton’s birthday is August 19. Tune in Tuesday to see whether he gets that baby elephant.
