MILLINOCKET, Maine, April 5, 2015 – Why does this all sound so familiar? Ah, yes, in November of 2013 there were also meetings and talks with the Iranians concerning their nuclear ambitions.
At that time, the concerned allies (China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States and Germany) crafted what was called the Joint Plan of Action. Basically they had agreed to go easy on Iran, and Iran agreed to let them.
Now, just as then, the Obama administration is crowing about reaching an agreement while still having next to nothing to show for it. Apparently this deal, as before, is supposed to restrict Iran’s nuclear program in return for further reduction of sanctions.
Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu said the agreement “would pose a grave danger to the region and to the world and would threaten the very survival of the state of Israel.”
For now Congress wants to impose new sanctions, and some members indicate that any deal made by the Obama administration will be opposed.
Maybe in June John Kerry can work some voodoo on the Iranians to magically finalize the purported “framework” of an agreement.
There’s even talk that John Kerry could be awarded the Nobel Peace prize. It would be more fitting if it were called the Piece of Work prize.
