WASHINGTON, February 10, 2014 – Recently Senate Jim Inhofe (R-OKL) and Congressman Dennis Ross (R-FLA) introduced a new bill in Congress. While as a general rule any new law Congress wants to pass is a bad idea, this one is an exception to the rule.
The bill they introduced was the Disaster Savings Account Act of 2014. The gist of the act is that it will allow taxpayers to deposit up to $5000 into a tax deductible savings account that would be used to pay for the costs of repairs after a disaster.
The idea that people at risk from natural disasters should prepare and pay for part of their repairs is a good idea. It is a far better idea than unrealistic subsidized federal disaster insurance.
As good an idea as this is, it is only a start. But it does attack a crucial problem.
One of the greatest threats to liberty is the progressive income tax.
There is a reason the left loves the progressive income tax. It is the greatest threat to freedom and liberty the government has ever created. All an income tax does is provide for the easy, endless expansion of government.
Conservatives will never be able to shrink the size of government until the engine of government growth is shut down. That engine is the income tax.
How do conservatives shut the income tax down?
Conservatives want the income tax controlled or abolished, but among the general public, it is an issue that does not even show up on the radar.
How do we destroy the income tax?
We borrow a page from the left’s playbook.
The left likes to take a system that is working and break it. Then they claim the only solution to fix the system they broke is for their idiotic idea. We are seeing this in healthcare right now. Obamacare is breaking our healthcare industry and soon enough the left will come out and claim the system is broken and the only solution is single payer.
The same is true with immigration. They broke the system by not enforcing the laws now they claim the only solution is Amnesty.
For conservatives, the goal should be to break the tax system.
How do conservatives do this?
Disaster savings accounts are a start. Conservatives should start creating myriads of deductions and tax free savings accounts. There can be tax free savings accounts for home purchase, car purchase, education, medical savings, computer purchase and anything else conservatives can think of.
The Cloward-Piven strategy is to overwhelm the free market system with so many demands that it cannot cope and therefore will collapse.
Why can’t conservatives do the same thing to the tax system.
Rush Limbaugh claimed after the 2012 election that one of the reasons Barack Obama won reelection was that he promised “free stuff.” Conservatives don’t believe in the government giving away free stuff to win elections. But conservatives can do the next best thing.
Conservatives can condition people to the idea of keeping all of the money they earn.
If conservatives want to destroy the income tax, and that should be a major conservative goal, there is only one way to do it.
That is to bring it down the way the left wants to bring America down.
