Hillary Clinton: Political predator and survivor
WASHINGTON, Sept. 17, 2015 – If you have been watching the news lately, in between stories of household objects that can kill you and how your neighbor is probably a pedophile, you may have heard about the recent updates to the Hillary Clinton email scandal.
For those of you who do not know, or who do not want to know, Hillary Clinton apparently, according to several reports, received, sent and stored classified emails on a private server. She also is said to have deleted thousands of those emails, in flagrant violation of the Federal Records Act, which says deleted work- related emails is a no-no.
Of course this recent scandal is sitting on top of the largest inbox for scandals in the known universe. It sits on top of the Whitewater scandal, the allegations that Hillary Clinton took money in return for diplomatic and business favors, the Benghazi scandal and a myriad of other allegations of misconduct so numerous that there is a Wikipedia index called “Clinton Administration Controversies.”
But here’s the thing: It doesn’t bother her one bit.
And that is because Hillary Clinton is the great white shark of American politics.
Time and time again, Hillary Clinton, the former First Lady of the United States, the former New York senator, and the former secretary of state, has survived against all odds despite the constant barrage of extinction level events. Even allegations of these types of actions would spell demise and probable imprisonment for other politicians. But not Hillary. Hillary Clinton is a sleek, hungry, talented, political killer, and she has climbed to the top of the American political food chain using savvy, political connections and an uncanny ability to forge and maintain a massive cult of personality.
Like the great white, she has never had to evolve. She simply uses her skills as a survivor and an apex predator to swim through troubled waters and meteor strikes that just happen to kill most other living creatures on the planet.
How has she done it? How has she been able to weather every storm and come out on top?
The answer is stunningly simple to explain, but extremely difficult to pull off.
Hillary Clinton has forged a diehard cult of personality, and she has maintained that image through constant maintenance, political connections and media savvy. She also leveraged her relationship with her husband and his political connections to make a career on her own. And she has proven herself very adept at that, turning ladder-climbing into an art form.
Let’s take a look at that for a second.
First, she is First Lady of Arkansas, then First Lady of the United States, then she goes out on her own as a U.S. senator from New York, then secretary of state. She has never truly ever gone backwards; she is constantly moving forward.
As far as politics goes, she combines her skill at reading the American political pulse with her media and image savvy. In 2008 when she was a senator and she voted on the Iraq War, it was because the public was clamoring for it. Now she spends her time demonizing Republicans for their warmongering.
Once upon a time she believed that marriage was between a man and a woman. Now as the tide of public opinion erodes against the shores of “marriage sanctity,” she espouses her stance as the once, future and always supporter of marriage equality.
Many years ago, Hillary Clinton stated, “We’ve got to do more at our borders. And people have to stop employing illegal immigrants.” However, only recently she slammed the entirety of the GOP primary field for being anti-immigrant and accused them of saying that immigrants were “second-class citizens.”
Well, sometimes sharks change their appetites, and the great white can hunt whatever it wants.
She has also enjoyed the adoring love and affection of the liberal media, who have afforded her significant latitude and leeway at every turn. She quite literally told a congressional subcommittee that it made no difference who was responsible for the deaths on 9/11 or at Benghazi, and the mainstream media laughed and clapped their hands like toddlers playing a game of peekaboo. A politician’s life blood is his or her public image; if that fades or if it is damaged, the ability to appeal to the public and therefore get elected is threatened.
The most recent allegations concerning the criminal investigation into Clinton’s misuse and mishandling of potentially sensitive information is a prime, gleaming example of her survival skills. She has built a fortress around her which no criticism can penetrate, and manning the walls of that fortress are millions of her supporters ready and willing to defend her to the death. And as a result of those years of political turmoil, which have left her a hardened, scarred political warrior, it would be no surprise if Hillary Clinton escaped this latest allegation not only without it harming her reputation, but by rising even further in her career.
The problem with individuals like Hillary Clinton is that they are politicians, not leaders. If tomorrow it became the prevailing ideology of the liberal base that tossing toddlers into vats of bubbling potion reduced carbon emissions, Hillary Clinton would come out as a long-time supporter of toddler tossing. There would probably even be a video of her tossing toddlers, and the Clinton Foundation would even most likely begin donating time and money to the remake of Hocus Pocus 2. She is a politician, her goal is to get re-elected, not to govern. And since survival is her goal, and since she is so good at it, that is why she is the Great White Shark of Washington.
Her support is so strong among many liberals and the media that she may even get convicted of violating federal law, and she would still run her campaign from her jail cell. In fact, she would probably even get a bump in the polls as she advocates for prison reform, because she has always been an advocate for convicts.
Hillary Clinton is an apex predator, she will come out on top no matter what she does. The only thing that can challenge an apex predator is another predator, which is why Barack Obama will always be known as her greatest adversary. He is the only one to have as great, or a greater, media image than she does.
It was Obama who forced Hillary into the depths as he took is moment in the sun, and now Hillary, who has been watching from the deep for so many years, is ready for her time. And she won’t let anything trivial like a federal investigation into alleged criminal activity get in the way.
