WASHINGTON, February 5, 2018: The FBI is less than pleased with the House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes.
His four-page memo detailing the Obama administration, the DNC, The FBI and Hillary Clinton campaign’s conspiracy to use the Steele dossier and its dubious Russian-provided accusations to secure a warrant from the secret FISA court, paints them all in a less than favorable light.
The warrant gave Obama’s FBI the go-ahead to spy on the Trump campaign on behalf of Hillary Clinton, whose troubles over her illegal handling of top secret government information the same FBI would clear of all wrongdoing.
Getting back to the intelligence committee memo, high-ranking members of the Democratic Party, the FBI and their friends in the media said releasing the document, in the words of Time magazine, was
“unprecedented in the committee’s history. The panel usually goes out of its way to protect classified information in the interest of shielding intelligence sources and methods.”
The intelligence committee’s ranking Democrat, Rep. Adam Schiff, has served as the front man for the Obama administration, the DNC, the failed Hillary Clinton presidential campaign and, more importantly, America’s secretive Deep State:
“In exchange for the intelligence community’s willingness to reveal closely guarded national secrets to a select group of members and staff for the purposes of oversight, the committees and the congressional leadership pledged to handle that information responsibly and without regard to politics. That contract has now been spectacularly broken by the creation of a partisan memo that misrepresents highly classified information that will never be made public,” wrote Schiff in the Washington Post.
Nothing quite goes together with the dubious cries for “national security” than guarding “intelligence sources and methods.”
The Deep State then, and now
The Justice Department and FBI abuses of the 1970s led to the resignation of Republican President Richard Nixon and, more importantly, to an investigation by the United States Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities (the “Church Committee”) of long-ignored Deep State abuses.
It was committee Chairman, Democratic Senator Frank Church, who concluded:
“The National Security Agency’s capability at any time could be turned around on the American people, and no American would have any privacy left, such is the capability to monitor everything: telephone conversations, telegrams, it doesn’t matter. There would be no place to hide. If a dictator ever took over, the N.S.A. could enable it to impose total tyranny, and there would be no way to fight back.”
Regarding the cozy relationship between the media and the Deep State, Church added:
“In examining the CIA’s past and present use of the U.S. media, the Committee finds two reasons for concern. The first is the potential, inherent in covert media operations, for manipulating or incidentally misleading the American public. The second is the damage to the credibility and independence of a free press which may be caused by covert relationships with the U.S. journalists and media organizations.”
Frank Church did not live to see his party become a Deep State appendage or the media its disseminator of disinformation against a democratically elected U.S. government.
In the case of the FBI’s “counterintelligence” operation against President Trump and his staff, FBI sources were Russian and their methods identical to those of the old KGB.
President Trump should declassify Deep State documents pertinent to their war against him, leaving them unredacted.
It’s time that Americans know the “intelligence sources and methods” arrayed in the secret war against them.
