WASHINGTON: They somehow failed to notice the impending implosion of the Soviet Union in 1991. They said dictator Saddam Hussein had stockpiled weapons of “mass destruction” to justify the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003. Somehow they missed Al Qaeda’s impending attack on American soil ahead of 9/11, despite the group’s assault on the U.S.S. Cole one year earlier. “They” are America’s Deep State. And the election of Donald Trump is the Deep State failure that stings the worst.
A laundry list of intelligence failures
This small list of intelligence failures is the primary product of the Cold War intelligence apparatus begun under the Democratic administration of Harry S. Truman. And in line with the Deep State failures listed above, the secretive U.S. intelligence agencies somehow missed Russian “meddling” in U.S. elections during the Obama administration.
That is until Democrats lost control of Congress and a majority of state houses and governors’ mansions. Oh, and after Hillary Clinton lost the presidency to Donald J. Trump.
Deep-State election interference
With such significant failures under its belt, it’s understandable that in a contest of credibility, President Trump would take the word of Russian President Vladimir Putin over the CIA, NSA, and FBI.
All of whom have floated the dubious narrative that Trump is either an agent of Russia or, in the words of former CIA chief John Brennan, “traitorous” for doubting the Deep State’s contention that America’s rejection of the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in 2016 is all a Russian plot.
That last point is significant because the Deep State’s greatest intelligence failure was missing the American people’s growing disenchantment with Washington’s bipartisan corruption. That’s why Deep-State, anti-Trump operations didn’t start in earnest until September of 2016, two months before the presidential election. Operations that proved inadequate to prevent the election of Trump as the nation’s chief executive.
Deep State’s stumblebums were playing catch-up. And even then, they had to outsource a significant portion of their operation to British MI6 agent Christopher Steele and his Kremlin “sources.”
And Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s indictments of Russian citizens, Russian intelligence operatives, and Russian companies have fallen flat in that they have failed to implicate one single American, including President Trump. Mueller has also failed to prove so-called Russian “meddling” altered the presidential vote count or affected the final 2016 result.
Mueller probe takes on the NRA?
In fact, Mueller’s Russian witch hunt has failed so miserably he’s turned his attention to another target dear to the hearts of deranged Democrats and their imploding party: The National Rifle Association (NRA).
Russian national Maria Butina, 29, is charged with acting as a foreign agent. She’s accused of networking with members of the NRA that have close ties to Republican politicians. Media reports allege Ms. Butina used sex to gain access to NRA officials in the same way disgraced New York Times reporter Ali Watkins got down and dirty with James Wolfe, an aide on the Senate Intelligence Committee, to gain access to government secrets.
If anything, this proves that New York Times reporters are far better at intelligence operations injurious to American interests than Middle East dictators, Al Qaeda, Vladimir Putin, or U.S. Deep State stumble bums – like former CIA Director John Brennan.
End the Deep State
The Deep State’s Trump/Russia “collusion” operation is another clear failure in a long litany of intelligence flops. It’s time the slow-wit Republicans in Congress begin phasing out these Cold War/War on Terror institutions.
End the CIA, NSA, and FBI. With Russia no longer a threat, these U.S. intelligence networks have turned their secret operations inward and against the American people and our electoral system.
They are a far greater threat to American liberty than Vladimir Putin’s Russia.
