Mike Huckabee — He is perfectly qualified to be King of Iowa, where the only thing that matters is being a Christian activist opposed to abortion. Social conservatives like Pat Robertson do well in Iowa and then get slaughtered in libertarian New Hampshire. There is only room for one social conservative in the race. Both Rick Santorum and Huckabee won Iowa when they ran, and both are gearing up to run again. Huckabee has a folksier sense of humor than the serious Santorum, but Huckabee will not get past the Wall Street Journal editorial pages. He raised taxes, which is the one unforgivable sin in the GOP. Santorum also fares better than Huckabee in South Carolina. Huckabee is a niche candidate that has never shown the ability to expand beyond his loyal core supporters. His refusal to drop out in 2008 when all hope was lost ticked off some party leaders, but those fences can be mended.
