WASHINGTON: The Drudge Report seems to have lost its conservative-leaning. More and more the headline aggregator, whose claim to fame was Monica Lewinsky’s semen-stained blue dress, is highlighting articles that are anti-Trump, anti-Republican, and pro-Impeachment. It has been an obvious trend during the Trump Presidency that is accelerating as we get closer to the House Impeachment farce and the 2020 election.
Drudge is increasingly anti-Trump
Top headline this morning, for example: “Romney Downloads on Trump: May vote to Remove!” in a glaring center headline.
The article, from the known ultra-liberal magazine The Atlantic, could not be more open in its bias against the President. The actual headline shows the article’s true bias:
Of course we expect that from Romney, and the Atlantic, but not from Drudge.
But then the mysterious Matt Drudge is not the man he used to be. Obsessed with UFO stories, and constantly linking to British uber-tabloids like The Star, Matt Drudge has taken his LGBTQ sensibilities and crossed the aisle to dance with the Democrats.
Conservatives are deserting him in droves. Where once Drudge Report was the first place conservatives would go to a daily rundown, now they are seeking out other more reliable aggregators. The up and coming Whatfinger News and the long-running Lucianne are increasingly the new leading lights in reliable conservative thought.
Mitt Romney, Chris Wallace, and The Washington Post
Just below Drudges Mitt Romney puff piece is another sign of the new Drudge: FOXNEWS Chris Wallace: ‘Well-connected’ Republican says 20% chance Senate will remove President. Fox’s Chris Wallace political views seem to be increasingly NY establishment, and anti-Trump. As viewers of Fox News Sunday are noticing.

Now Wallace is joining Drudge in putting aside the charade of objectivity to mimic his pals in the left-wing mainstream media at CNN and MSNBC. It tough in New York. Wallace cares more about what the New York Times thinks of him than trying to be an objective newsman.
The anti-Republican carnage continues down the whole right side of Drudge Report this Sunday: “Red Flags All Over for Senate Republicans” and “Hold on Majority looking awfully precarious”.
This double-barreled dubious headline links to an article from the Never-Trump National Review.
Sucking up the Bernie and the Democrat Party
The reality is that in a Trump re-election, which is increasingly a reliable conclusion, that Republicans actually stand to pick up several Senate seats, and recapture the House.
No one will need to worry about a Democrat Senate if the Republicans lose the Senate because it will mean a Democrat was elected to replace Trump and it is fairly certain that that isn’t going to happen.
Below that on the right column is a series of articles in praise of Bernie Sanders and his large rally with AOC in New York City on Saturday. News certainly. Conservative news. Probably not. “BERNIE BLOWOUT IN QUEENS” “LARGEST RALLY OF PRIMARY” Drudge screams in all caps and links to two articles.
The articles state that in the Democrat Primary Race, Bernie is attracting (dubious) thousands. Trump, who is not in a primary race, is drawing tens of thousands, regularly.
One is a story from the ever Democrat-friendly AP wire service, and the other is an article from the Washington Examiner. At least the Examiner is a generally conservative site with reliable reporting. But for Drudge, the emphasis is a glowing report on Bernie. Because it is no longer about reporting the news, but writing the headline to propel the Democrat narrative.
In this case, the Democrat narrative is that anyone of their primary candidates could beat President Trump in 2020.
Drudge is no longer reliably conservative
Just below that is an article about the tepid response from Democrats in support of Tulsi Gabbard after the outrageous, and very familiar charges from Hillary Clinton that Gabbard (and Jill Stein) are “Russian assets”. Only two fellow candidates defend Tulsi Gabbard from Hillary accusations! the aggregator posts, linking to an article in the Daily Mail. In that article Andrew Yang, Marianne Williamson, and Beto O’Rourke came to Gabbard’s defense against an obvious smear campaign.
This is followed by an article from the Wall Street Journal, Sluggish Fundraising Looms Over Biden’s Bid.. that seems more pro-Hillary than anti-Biden. Now we may seem to be cherry-picking articles, but let’s just say that the tree is full of cherries just like it.
Jane Fonda and Climate Change
In the left column, Drudge links to yet another bland Democrat-leaning AP story about none other than Jane Fonda and Climate Change: “Fonda returns to civil disobedience for Climate change…” it trumpets.
The article glowingly praises the 70 something Fonda’s willingness to be arrested for making a nuisance of herself on the steps of the Capitol and Supreme Court. All for Climate Change. It seems that Hanoi Jane is bored, and has little else to do but bask in the supplication of a new generation of activists.
That’s all well and good, but not something we used to see in Drudge a lot.
Now we see it all the time.
I don’t mind the regular weird dispatches from obscure British tabloids filled with National Enquirer type stories of sexual depravity, gory murder, or supernatural claims. It used to make me chuckle while I looked for more substantive conservative links. Now it is just annoying. Like this headline: British Soldier jailed for excessive nipple twisting…
A steady drumbeat of stories from Trump hating sources
Then there is the drumbeat of never-Trump stories. Six in a row this Sunday, with three from the reliably anti-Trump AP wire service: REPORT: Mulvaney faced ouster threat before impeachment crisis…from your unbiased buddies at CNN: Caught up in middle, diplomats fight back.
And from the reliably anti-Trump AP WIRE: President adds to chaos.
Then there is Analysis: President who prizes strength enters key stretch in a fragile state, a reprint of the Jeff Bezo’s leftist Washington Post story reposted by LMT Online. That the supposedly conservative Drudge would run a Washington Post headline as fact is cause for alarm.
But wait there is more for WaPo: BALZ: Dems wonder which of their candidates can beat another Washington Post article from Trump hater Dan Balz reprinted in the Stamford Advocate. From that bastion of reliable conservative thought, Stamford, Connecticut. (sarcasm intended)
Time to look elsewhere for Conservative news
Does Drudge think we are stupid? Or has he just gone over to the nether “orange man bad” side? Drudge, like CDN, has the right to publish the news headlines he sees fit to print. Drudge, one of the internet’s most visited sites, is so financially secure he probably doesn’t have to care what his former supporters and readers think.
But shouldn’t Drudge be honest and inform his visitors that Drudge is no longer reliably conservative? That his headlines no longer exclusively represent the conservative viewpoint. More and more that is definitively not the case.
It’s just like people used to say about the Democrat Party. Republicans, conservatives and mainstream Americans didn’t leave the Democrat Party. The Democrat Party left them. The same can be said for Matt Drudge.
Conservatives didn’t leave The Drudge Report. The Drudge Report left them.
