COLORADO SPRINGS: For Conservatives, there is a small number of news sources where they are welcome. Since 1996 however, viewers on the right have flocked to conservative-based Fox News, a leading news source for conservatives but a top target for the liberal mainstream media.
However, Fox News recently has come under fire by leftists who would prefer they went out of business. Ownership issues, administrative turnovers, and news talent hires are viewed with trepidation.
Three recent hires have raised conservative eyebrows.
On October 31, 2016, Donna Brazile was fired from her position at CNN. E-mail leaks suggested she had improperly supplied Hillary Clinton’s campaign with advance knowledge of questions. Debate questions for her and Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign.
The former chair of the Democratic National Committee, Donna Brazile, joins Fox as an analyst.
Donna Brazile is a proven Trump hater.
Frustrated at how President Trump was characterizing her post-election book, Brazile suggested the president was a congenital liar.
At American University March 2016, she said,
“Donald Trump’s strategy has been to try to mirror the electorate – to mirror their fears, their anger, their animosity, their prejudices.”
Discussing Trump’s insistence on a border wall with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos in December 2018, she said,
“Let me say this, the president; he’s unraveled. Things are unraveling.”
“Trump has opened up a whole new playbook to sow discord and to weaponize hate . . . This is virulent. It’s bone-chilling. It’s like a toxin.”
Former House Speaker Paul Ryan is now on the board of the new Fox Corp. The corporation is the parent company to Fox
News and Fox Business as well as broadcast TV stations, several sports channels, and other holdings.
Paul Ryan resigned as Speaker of House as he grew to hate the job serving with President Donald Trump.
Ryan recently faced criticism from fellow Republicans for claiming he believed that some Democrats could beat Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential elections.
According to Albert R. Hunt in his article, “Falling Star: Why Paul Ryan Had to Bow Out,”
“Despite periodic efforts to gloss over big differences, Trump and Ryan never were a match. On immigration, trade and fiscal policy, Ryan was at odds with Trump.” He adds, “The Trump factor often made running the House impossible. Unlike strong speakers from Sam Rayburn to Thomas P. O’Neill to John Boehner and Nancy Pelosi, Ryan was never feared by his colleagues, and they had few reservations about taking him on.”
The parent company of Fox News has hired Danny O’Brien, a well-known Democrat and former top aide to Joe Biden as its chief lobbyist in Washington. O’Brien joining the network last October as executive vice president and head of government relations for the Fox Corp.
Previously, he had served as Senator Joe Biden’s chief of staff and went on to head Biden’s 2008 presidential campaign. The O’Brien hire and other news suggest Fox is beefing up ties to Democrats and critics of President Trump.
Conservatives have bristled at these recent hires.
The recent hires, plus ongoing leftist attacks on leading conservative FOX commentators, Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Judge Jeanine Piero, and Laura Ingraham are leftist inroads to Fox that are troubling.
As the 2020 presidential election nears, Conservatives want the playing field, especially in the evaluation of the various presidential candidates, to be level, fair and square.
To be sure, the Trump presidency has catalyzed the national media. Battle lines and leaks are the new modus operandi of an increasingly leftist Deep State.
The arrogance of an increasingly socialistic official Washington fairly cries out for reasoned counters. Fox News has been that leveler. Conservatives, despite recent news about Fox, are praying for that check and balance to remain in full force.
