WASHINGTON, January 11, 2015 – Three days after the French Republic mobilized more than 80,000 police and paramilitary forces to hunt down the Islamic terrorists that killed 12 people at Charlie Hebdo, two police officers and four grocery store hostages, the New York Times fears a “sense of wariness, even siege, has grown increasingly profound among France’s Muslim population – the largest in Europe – which seems braced for a backlash, both political and personal.”
Islamophobia is an absurd charge made by America’s “newspaper of record,” one its editors trot out after every Islamic terrorist atrocity perpetrated since 9/11.
The FBI’s 2013 hate crimes report, says 13.7% of American Muslims were “victims of anti-Islamic (Muslim) bias.” American Jews, on the other hand, were 60.3% of those reporting hate crimes.
Islamophobia in the French Republic is negligible as well.
Oliver Roy of the European University Institute in the Huffington Post wrote:
“In France, there are more Muslims in the army, the police, and the gendarmes than in the Al Qaeda network, not to mention the government administration, the hospitals, law practices or the educational system.”
And the phobic attitudes of French Muslims, not their “infidel” countrymen, are what should be of concern to that nation’s civil society.
According to a European Union survey, French Muslims support the Islamic State by 69%. That figure translates into 4.14 million of France’s 6 million so-called wary, siege-minded Muslims.
According to a report issued by the United Nations, 9,347 civilians were killed and 17,386 wounded by Islamic State fighters in Iraq and Syria in 2014.
“The array of violations and abuses perpetrated by ISIL and associated armed groups is staggering,” said U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad al Hussein, “and many of their acts may amount to war crimes or crimes against humanity.”
An estimated 1,000 French Muslims have helped the Islamic State perpetrate those atrocities.
Sigolène Vinson, a reporter at Charlie Hebdo, was spared by the Islamists that murdered her fellow employees in cold blood.
“I’m not killing you, because you are a woman,” one of the assailants told her, “and we don’t kill women [sic] but you have to convert to Islam, read the Quran and wear a veil.”
The killer’s clear implication was that Vinson, should she fail to obey, would see a return visit from him – or someone like him – to exact the necessary punishment.
You might call this view Occidentophobia: The complete and total rejection of Western Civilization, and the insistence that its benefactors, you and me, reject it as well.
That was the goal when Islamic forces conquered Egypt in the 7th century. Ibn al Qift, in his book Wise Men (A.D. 1227), said that Caliph Omar ordered the burning of the remaining Greco-Roman, Judeo-Christian writings of the Library of Alexandria.
“If these writings of Greek agree with the book of God [Quran],” said Omar, “they are useless and need not be preserved; if they disagree, they are pernicious and ought to be destroyed.”
Heads I win, tails you lose.
Dr. Jalees Rehman, an associate professor of medicine and pharmacology at the University of Illinois at Chicago (and a Muslim), wrote in the journal Guernica,
“When I discuss the concept of Western culture with Western Muslims, I often find that their perception of Western culture does not include that same desirable standard of [politically correct] openness. ‘The West’ is regularly seen as some combination of loss of moral values, imperialism, drone attacks – a description reminiscent of the Star Trek Borg species that assimilates into and then destroys other cultures… few [Western Muslims] seem to associate ‘the West’ with its grand cultural heritage, which reaches far back to Plato’s The Republic but also includes Baroque music, Friedan’s The Feminine Mystique, and the environmental movement.”
The fear of Islamophobia by the elite, politically correct guardians of multi-cultural thought – like the New York Times – is really a plea for Western forgetfulness. A plea to define self-preservation as “hate.”
In short, a plea for civilizational suicide.
