Kiwis follow New Mexico, New Jersey in defying illegal gun grabs

WASHINGTON. You didn’t hear about this from CNN or MSNBC. You didn’t read about it in the Washington Post or the New York Times. We’re talking about the continuing refusal of individual US gun owners to comply with increasingly corrosive and restrictive gun laws. State legislators resently passed and implemented such laws in true blue New Jersey, New Mexico and Colorado. Even more astonishing: Deplorable gun-owning Kiwis in New Zealand are joining this ad hoc, grassroots uprising of law-abiding citizens against leftist gun-control fanatics.

Here in the US, even county sheriffs and county governments decided to join with their fellow citizens in defying such anti-Second Amendment laws. Democrat-led left-wing state governments enacted them all. Confronting a similar issue on the other side of the world, normally law-abiding Kiwis are turning into stalwart refuseniks as well when it comes to keeping their guns.

Intrusive background checks challenge law-abiding New Mexico citizens

This spring, US News reported on the latest developments following New Mexico’s intrusive new background check legislation. And New Mexican citizens’ almost instantaneous defiance of the new state law.

“New legislation, which will take effect this summer, requires background checks for all gun sales, even those between two individuals. Law enforcement leaders throughout the state opposed the measure as it was being debated in the legislature, and some said they would not enforce the law, according to The Albuquerque Journal.”

In this largely rural Southwestern state, sales and ownership of guns was part of daily life long before New Mexico joined the union. So it’s not surprising that he reaction to the new state gun law proved both swift and deep, involving most New Mexico county governments and sheriffs alike.

“…at least 26 New Mexico counties passed “Second Amendment sanctuary” resolutions in opposition to guns laws decided by state lawmakers this year, including the measure requiring background checks.”

The citizen revolt spreads

US News also noted that New Mexico was not the only state to revolt against its tone-deaf state legislature.

“Counties in several states, including Colorado and Illinois, have passed similar resolutions recently in opposition to newly passed or potential gun restriction measures. “

What’s up with New Jersey?

Meanwhile, there’s true blue New Jersey. That state’s legislature went after the standard size of “high capacity” magazines. Second Amendment lawsuits ensued, and, unfortunately, an interventionist court sided in favor of this costly restriction, as noted ironically by the American Thinker.

“President Obama and President Trump were both right, Obama when he told us elections have consequences and Trump in his 2018 stump speech that a consequence of Democrat victories would be renewed attacks on the Second Amendment. New Jersey’s ban on high-capacity magazines has been upheld by a federal court, opening the door-to-door knock gun confiscation and making off-duty police officers subject to criminal prosecution. The inmates are officially running the asylum.”

Inmates from the New Jersey legislature, governor’s office and the Federal judiciary.

What’s next? Door-to-door searches of law-abiding citizens by already overburdened cops?

The Washington Free Beacon elaborated on this outrageous violation of New Jersey citizens’ rights, detailing the invasiveness of the state’s ill-advised legislation. A violation now vetted by the 3rdUS Circuit Court.

“A lawsuit brought by the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs and supported by the National Rifle Association failed on Thursday as the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals declared the confiscation law constitutional. Any civilian caught in possession of a magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds may be arrested and prosecuted. Possession of such magazines after the deadline will be considered a crime of the fourth degree under state law and carry up to 18 months in prison and up to $10,000 in fines or both.

“Nearly all modern full-size or compact handguns and rifles sold in the United States come standard with magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition.”

President Trump and Cocaine Mitch need to move even faster to replace even more of the leftist jurist-legislators. So-called judges carefully put in place over many years by Democrat presidents.

A surprising new kind of #Resistance is taking hold in the hinterlands

But wait. What’s this? New Jersey gun owners are mounting a #Resistance against this flagrant violation of their rights? Seriously? Just like those crazy 21stcentury cowboys in New Mexico? That’s what we read in The New American.

“When New Jersey passed its ban on possession of magazines containing more than 10 rounds in June, it gave the state’s million or so law-abiding gun owners 180 days to comply. The law provided five options: 1) modify the offending magazines so they could accept no more than 10 rounds; 2) ‘render the firearm [that accepts such magazines] inoperable’; 3) register firearms that cannot be ‘modified to accommodate 10 or less rounds’; 4) transfer the firearm or the magazine to ‘an individual or entity entitled to own or possess it’; or 5) surrender the firearm or the magazine to local law enforcement.

The million or so law-abiding gun owners selected option No.6: ignore the law and defy its enforcement.

“The 180-day period expired on December 11, and not a single magazine has been turned in to any local law-enforcement agencies…”

All-knowing big city left-liberals know what’s best for the rest of us

Way to go, guys! In addition to New Mexico and New Jersey, Coloradans have had a similar #Resistance-style reaction to a similar law in that once-red state. As usual, it’s urban liberals that like to control the lives of their fellow citizens. Citizens  who live in different places and under different circumstances.

Even the Kiwis are starting to join the revolt against leftist gun-banners

And it looks like this unexpected #Resistance is spreading internationally as well. At least that’s what we learn in a piece by Leesa K. Donner appearing in Liberty Nation. The title?

KIWIS ‘JUST SAY NO’ TO GUN BAN

So even those civilized Kiwis down under refuse to comply with New Zealand’s instant gun grab. A knee-jerk grab inspired by the recent murderous attack on a mosque in that country. One appalling incident? Ban all the guns. So only the criminals will still have them.

“New Zealand politicians who rushed to enact nationwide gun confiscation following the Christchurch mosque massacres are befuddled by the lack of enthusiasm from citizens who have yet to comply with the new law.The so-called ‘gun reform’ was expected to rid the vast New Zealand countryside of most semi-automatic firearms, magazines over a specified limit, and shotguns.

“Two months ago, Reuters breathlessly reported, ‘New Zealand police expect tens of thousands of firearms to be surrendered by a guns buy-back scheme.’ Law enforcement authorities averred that ‘it could be more.’ Pregnant with the expectation that gun owners would trade their firearms for cash, the political class is nonplussed by the results.

“Only 530 guns have thus far been turned in to the authorities.”

Civil disobediance down under

Imagine that? Civil disobedience. By normal, law-abiding, civilized Kiwis, no less. Certainly, there must be a reason for this, notes Donner.

“These people are likely the NZ version of ‘deplorables,’ who strike quite a contrast to left-leaning urban dwellers. New Zealand’s political chatelaine, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, had an almost unanimous parliamentary vote to institute the gun buy-back, though as Liberty Nation Legal Affairs Editor Scott Cosenza asserts, ‘Buy-back is really a misnomer because the government never owned those guns in the first place.’

New Mexico. Colorado. New Jersey. Now, placid New Zealand is witnessing the revolt of the Kiwis. What’s going on here?

“Much like the United States, New Zealand’s gun-grabbing toffs entrenched in the government can’t stop themselves from trammeling the privileges of those who own guns. As there is no specific right to bear arms per se in the Land of the Long White Cloud, gun-owning citizens face an arduous battle to withhold their firearms from the grasp of the leftist political class.

Italics mine.

But Donner nails it here. Somewhere, somehow, knee-jerk leftists took over virtually all the so-called “free world’s” major cities. Now theyseem to think they have the right to impose their will on the unwashed living outside those city borders.

What if the rubes refuse to conform? What if they start using Alinsky tactics against the left?

But what these self-righteous elitist clowns never anticipated was the growing #Resistance to this weird kind of New Fascism. Finally, after decades of fake “protests” and violent stunting the minority leftists employed to bully their fellow citizens and impose a perverse kind of socialism on the masses, the masses are fighting back.

Leftists get to have “sanctuary cities” in violation of US Federal law? Okay, we the people will have “sanctuary counties” where we get to violate unconstitutional gun bans and magazine restrictions. If sanctuaries are good for you, then they’re good for us. Let’s see the court systems here, in New Zealand and elsewhere deal with this unexpected – and heartening – turn of events.

What if everyone else flouts the law like Marxists have been doing for years?

As Donner concludes,

“Perhaps simply ignoring the new regulations may be effective, and law enforcement will find it impractical to round up the firearms of otherwise law-abiding citizens. Whether it becomes an exercise in futility for the government, a quest for a bigger bang for their buck by the people, or merely a quiet sidestep of hastily approved laws, Second Amendment supporters in America would be wise to take note.

“It could just be that these laid-back Kiwis are poised to teach us a lesson in how to resist the oppressive and ham-handed fist of a tyrannical government.”

The wind-up and the pitch…

So, are the arrogant lefties in the US and elsewhere going to push things? Are they going to order their police forces to drop everything else. Then go door-to-door to try to confiscate the guns and clips lawfully owned by their law-abiding fellow citizens? Let’s watch and see how this one works out.

So what if America’s already-in-progress Civil War II breaks out in the open? It may very well be this kind of confrontation that begins the real conflagration. And if that’s the case, the small but arrogant cadre of bought-and-paid-for legislatures and jurists and the wealthy closet Marxist who support them will have only themselves to blame. Meanwhile, welcome aboard the Freedom Express, all you deplorable Kiwis.
