WASHINGTON, December 23, 2017: The Apostle Luke, the consummate dramatist, knew he had to present a very dark stage before describing the light of Christ’s birth and entry into human history:
“And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.”
Armageddon for Washington’s would-be Caesars
Speaking of Caesar, the imperious Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was beside herself during a press conference concerning President Trump’s promised tax cuts, going so far as to correct a reporter for suggesting the modest legislation was “not the end of the world.”
“Oh, it is the end of the world,” said the hysterical Pelosi, “This is Armageddon. This is a very big deal.”
And it’s nothing short of a Christmas miracle that thumb-sucking Congressional Republicans managed to get their act together long enough to pass a tax plan certain to launch a sustainable economic recovery while diminishing the financial impact of petty totalitarians, like Pelosi, who believe every penny, whether yours or Wall Street’s, belongs to them.
The perpetually envious child Bernie Sanders’ socialism denied
Vermont’s socialist Senator, Bernie Sanders, described the legislation as
“a victory for the largest and most profitable corporations in this country like Apple, Microsoft, Pfizer and General Electric who despite record-breaking profits will see hundreds of billions of dollars in tax breaks.”
Of course, it’s really none of Bernie’s business how much money corporations make or keep. Normal, well-adjusted adults go through their entire lives without a moment’s worry over Exxon’s balance sheets.
It concerns Bernie because he’s a petty and envious old child.
Human-hating socialism denied
You see, Bernie isn’t in the creating business. As a socialist, Bernie is in the theft business, like Venezuela’s blood-sucking socialist leaders that have put their suffering people in the unenviable position of having to hunt stray dogs and cats for food.
Last July 26, more than 26,000 Venezuelans fled to neighboring Colombia in search of a better life on that single day. And 44-year-old Larry Centeno, an unemployed electrician, sells cups of coffee on the streets of Bogota, his wife and children separated from him as they seek employment in other cities.
“It’s hard here being alone,” Centeno told the Miami Herald, “but in Venezuela there was nothing for us anymore. They stole our hope.”
And, we must remember, Venezuela is a nation with untapped oil reserves greater than those of Saudi Arabia.
Socialism Denied: Fighting greed, resentment, Bernie Sanders and Venezuela
You see, the socialist leaders of Venezuela, like Bernie, aren’t in the creating business. But, like Bernie, they package envy and resentment to sell the ignorant and weak-minded. Those who find out too late that the childish resentments of Bernie and Venezuela’s government won’t keep them warm on a cold night or put food on the kitchen table.
Socialists like Bernie and Venezuela’s leaders tell us they put people ahead of profits. But they have no idea how to care for people after plundering the profits of their nation’s corporations.
This kind of mismanagement is what’s known in the business, of which Bernie and Venezuela’s socialist leaders know very little, as bankruptcy.
“[Venezuelan] President Nicolás Maduro and his socialist administration blame the woes on an ‘economic war’ waged by the opposition and shadowy foreign forces.,” said the Herald.
It’s more than fitting that an ideology which is nothing more than a figment of a child’s imagination ascribes its monumental failures in the real world to unnamed “shadowy foreign forces,” no doubt hiding under the bed or in a dark closet.
A community organizer’s dying legacy: Socialism denied
During the bad old days, during the era of President Barack Obama, the Chicago community organizer worked tirelessly to move the future U.S. economy away from one run by coal and oil, to one run by wind and solar power.
But the U.S. economy is not a small plant fueled by photosynthesis nor so minuscule it can be powered by the same winds that propelled Admiral Columbus’s ships the Niña, Pinta and Santa Maria across the ocean blue.
Thus, many of Obama’s taxpayer-funded “green energy” boondoggles ended in failure, of which Solyndra’s half-billion-dollar loss was most notable.
Eventually, more than two billion tax dollars were scattered to the four winds.
Tesla’s $4.9 billion green energy subsidy
However, one glowing success remains – Elon Musk’s Tesla Motor Company.
Actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, and late-night comedian Stephen Colbert enjoy tooling around in their shiny luxury Tesla motor cars. Each car costing more than $67,000 a piece.
They have this opportunity thanks to a $4.9 billion green energy subsidy from lucky taxpaying suckers like you.
If capitalists weren’t so stupidly placid, they would gin up a little old-fashioned resentment, ala Bernie Sanders, regarding that bit of socialism for the entertainment industry’s preachy and annoying rich.
But Bernie and Venezuelan socialists are bucking a global trend.
According to the Pew Research Center, “700 million humans have moved out of deep poverty in the 21st century” thanks to increased economic freedom, a.k.a., capitalism. Which means that socialism denied, once again, works.
Max Roser at the Institute for New Economic Thinking at Oxford University’s Martin School writes:
“In 1820, the vast majority of people lived in extreme poverty and only a tiny elite enjoyed higher standards of living. Economic growth over the last 200 years completely transformed our world, with poverty falling continuously over the last two centuries. A 7-fold increase in the world population would be potentially enough to drive everyone into extreme poverty. Yet, the exact opposite happened. In a time of unprecedented population growth, we managed to lift more and more people out of poverty.”
By “we,” of course, Roser means those individuals around the globe engaged in that free, natural and life-affirming interaction of mutual economic benefit – capitalism.
The young and restless… and stupid
A benefit now denied to socialist Venezuela’s masses and utterly mind-boggling to the educated idiots among Bernie’s bros and gals.
There is no fool like an old fool… or a young, university-educated fool for that matter.
Republicans in Congress passed a tax reform package designed to increase the economic well-being of a majority of Americans. By allowing them to keep more of their hard-earned money and reducing the corporate tax bite for the nation’s job creator, it is socialism denied and life is better.
The stocking-stuffer buried in the bill is the repeal of Obamacare’s individual mandate, which will force the GOP to deal with the former president’s dictatorial malignancy once and for all as his signature socialist accomplishment crumbles, triggering dramatic premium increases.
Healthcare socialism denied
Republicans will have to kill Obamacare and replace it with a system that allows health insurance companies to compete across state lines. This will undoubtedly reduce the cost of medical care the same way capitalist competition reduces the cost of oil, light bulbs, and hamburgers.
As capitalism is now lifting those untouched by the curse of socialism from the depths of poverty to the prosperity that goes hand in hand with freedom.
Here’s wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a capitalist “Armageddon” to socialists Bernie Sanders and Nancy Pelosi as America heads into a Trumpian and prosperous New Year.
And now for something completely different. “The House of Christmas” by G.K. Chesterton, read by The Federalist’s Ben Domenech:
