Baldwin gets into trouble for being a Smart Alec on a bike in Manhattan

WASHINGTON, May 13, 2014 — Alec Baldwin, outspoken TV and film actor, star of NBC’s ’30 Rock’ and veteran of numerous ‘incidents’ between himself and public authorities, was arrested this morning on charges of riding his bicycle on the margins of the wrong side of the street in New York City.

The New York Post reported:

“Alec was riding his bicycle the wrong way on Fifth Avenue this morning and, when he was stopped by police, he didn’t have ID so he was handcuffed and arrested,” a source told the New York Post. “It is not known where he is now, or if he is still in police custody.”

Witnesses are in some disagreement over the arrest. An eyewitness told InTouchWeekly that the actor was “calm and quiet” during the arrest, while another said he “went ballistic on the cops, screaming at them.” Evidently the witness who claimed Baldwin “went ballistic”, was in agreement with police themselves who added a summons to Baldwin’s original notice to appear, alleging “disorderly conduct”.

Police were not receptive to whatever Baldwin’s excuses were for not having his identification on his person. What’s with them, don’t they know Liz Lemon’s boss, Jack Donaghy when they see him? New York Daily News reports, “He became belligerent, yelling and screaming at the officers, ‘I don’t have ID. Just give me the f–king summonses,'” a police source told the paper.

The ‘arrest’, was more of a detainment than a full arrest, because Baldwin was cited and released at the scene. Not surprisingly, Baldwin is furious. Alec Baldwin is not known for having a long fuse and he doesn’t like hassles, but then who does. He’s one of the most adamant about the stalking habits of Paparazzi and has had his share of run ins with airlines and TSA agents.

The incident that he was taken into custody for – ignoring a flight attendants order to put his iPhone away during a flight, is legendary and more recently, he had much to say about a security check in Nassau in late January. Baldwin was outraged at the Transportation Security Administration’s having singled his 5 month old daughter for an ‘enhanced screening’. Alec turned to Twitter to vent his anger, using the hashtag travelinginUSisadisgrace:

Flying from Nassau, Bahamas 2 NY. TSA “random selects” my 5 month old daughter 4 a pat down. I am not kidding.”

He went on to add – “I guess what I’m saying is: Traveling in the US is a pain in the f%#&ing ass.”

Today he told reporters, “Officer Moreno, badge number 23388, arrested me and handcuffed me for going the wrong way on Fifth Ave,” he said at 9:29 a.m. ET. “Meanwhile, photographers outside my home ONCE AGAIN terrified my daughter and nearly hit her with a camera. The police did nothing.”

Alec Baldwin is a fascinating animal in the entertainment /celebrity zoo. He’s a man who has wistfully ruminated on the prospect of entering the political game as a candidate for Mayor of New York City, Congressman or Senator, representing the state and the Democrat party. He told Eliot Spitzer, the former New York governor, that the country is lacking leaders who “really haven’t lost sight of what the middle class” needs. “We’ve had men who are Ivy League–groomed running this country since 1988… and the problems aren’t getting solved.”

Hard to disagree with the general sentiment there, but when push comes to shove, Baldwin realized that his meltdown with the flight attendant and the dust up over his “c*ksucking f*ggot.” rant, which got him tossed from MSNBC, might be a signal that he’s not capable of the sort of ‘decorum’ that political office demands.

One also has to wonder, not only about Baldwin, but a lot of loud mouthed Democrats in the entertainment field. Do they really believe all the politically correct nonsense that they have to subscribe to and tout in order to “work in this town”?

They support Democrat and liberal orthodoxy on various issues, but chafe when they have to live up to them in real life. The best example of this is celebrities who prattle on about gun control and gun violence, but either carry and own firearms themselves or employ personal protection from those who do. Then there’s all the carping about “climate change”, but they themselves have enormous carbon footprints and wasteful lifestyles.

One really wonders what latent political tendencies lie beneath the surface with Baldwin. He bristles at the sort of restrictive authoritarian / government paternalistic state that liberals feel most comfortable in.

There was one additional comment he made about the incident that took place this morning that gives one pause for thought. “New York City is a mismanaged carnival of stupidity that is desperate for revenue and anxious to criminalize behavior once thought benign.”

Baldwin is a Democrat. New York City is run by a newly elected Democrat. Democrats are always “desperate for revenue” and always “anxious to criminalize behavior once thought benign.”

Where is the line drawn on the requirement of ID on one’s person? If I am swimming at the beach, can a cop come into the water and cite me if I left my ID elsewhere? If I am rushed out of my home due to fire, wearing only what’s on my back, can a cop come over to me and cite me for not having ID on my person?? The laws are stupid, and they leave a lot of room for abuse by zealous police officers who may be in a bad mood, or don’t like how you look, or don’t like the color of your skin.

Well, in this case they wanted it so they could write Baldwin a ticket and to be sure it was him and not one of the thousands of Jack Donaghy look alikes in Manhattan.

Baldwin is a menace to society. He beats up photographers and gets away with it. NYC is a political cesspool that bends over backwards for celebrities.

Since a free country provides only the opportunities, risks, and uncertainties associated with developing one’s talents, it naturally puts people under pressure that is often disliked.

While the terms “collectivism” and “altruism” are often considered synonymous, it is important to remember that egoism opposes altruism and that individualism opposes collectivism.
