CHICAGO, June 14, 2017 — A field of dreams became a field of nightmares when ideological bigotry released a volley of gunfire. Leftist rage over losing the 2016 election has been building for months, and it finally exploded when a Bernie Sanders supporter shot Representative Steve Scalise, R-La., and four others.
A group of GOP representatives and staffers was practicing in advance of the annual congressional baseball game, an event that raises money for children’s charities. The shooter asked if the men practicing were Democrats or Republicans. When he got confirmation that they were Republicans, he began firing.
If not for the security detail of Capitol Police officers Scalise receives as House Majority Whip, the carnage would have been a slaughter. The shooter was killed after wounding a lobbyist, a staffer, the two police officers and Scalise.
Liberal Democrats immediately pleaded for unity, but for some conservatives, their calls ring hollow.
Liberals are the new Palestinians. They want all of the political lands, and refuse to recognize the right of their opponents to exist.
The Scalise shooter was not an aberration, but the logical result of liberal politics.
Liberal Democratic violence, from the murders of Harvey Milk and George Moscone to bomber Bill Ayers, is nothing new. Since the 2000 election, liberal fire breathing has grown exponentially worse. Many left-of-center individuals have shown sportsmanship so bad that it would make former tennis brat John McEnroe blush.
A crazed liberal activist in early 2004 sought revenge for George W. Bush’s election by trying to run over Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris. A film depicting Bush’s fictional assassination became a cult favorite on the left.
When Barack Obama was elected president, he unleashed rage on the streets from the White House. Groups from Occupy Wall Street to the New Black Panthers to Black Lives Matter used force against Obama opponents.
Just before the 2016 election, North Carolina GOP headquarters were firebombed with Molotov cocktails.
When Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton, Obama and Clinton’s surrogates helped create groups such as Antifa to violently attack conservatives and Republicans. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and EPA Director Scott Pruitt routinely face death threats.
Hollywood celebrities stoke violence on a daily basis. Robert Deniro wanted to punch Trump in the face. Kathy Griffin posted an ISIS-style video of Trump’s severed head. Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and the rest of the ladies of The View attack all things Republican and Trump all the time. Madonna spoke of blowing up the White House. Ashley Judd and Debra Messing used public appearances and social media in ways that went far beyond reasonable policy discourse. A New York City play proudly and defiantly refused to remove scenes of Trump being stabbed to death.
The liberal media have been so desperate to overturn the 2016 election results that madness has taken over. The New York Times and Washington Post focused briefly on Scalise before returning to stoking their anti-Trump conspiracy theories. CNN and MSNBC have spent every night trying to convince Democrats that a mythical plot between Trump and Russia’s Vladimir Putin cost Democrats the election. With no evidence, they fan the flames of outrage to sell newspapers and increase television ratings.
The gap between leftists and Islamists is shrinking. Islamists shout jihad, infidels and “Allah Akbar” while leftists scream occupy, resist, Antifa, Trump-Russia, and Black Lives Matter. The words differ, but the intentions are the same: terror. Until liberals and Arab Muslims stop rejecting reality, peace is impossible. For those who find the comparison overstated, keep in mind that the liberal shriek of resistance is taken directly from the late Yasir Arafat’s PLO. It is a rallying cry steeped in violence, a call to achieve power by any means necessary.

Liberals kept insisting that only one person fired the actual weapon, but an entire leftist ideology loaded the gun. In predictable fashion, some liberals immediately began calling for more gun control rather than liberal self-control.
While President Trump and other Republicans called for unity, peace and calm, far too many Republicans realized the impossibility of this in the current political climate. Democrat congresspeople from Maxine Waters to Liz Warren make their living screaming at and about anyone to the right of the political spectrum. Once Scalise recovers, Democrats are expected to continue raging about climate change and other issues in a manner that goes far beyond reasonable political discourse.
The shooter even belonged to a social media group entitled “Terminate the Republicans.” At last count, the group had over 13,000 members.
The shooting of Scalise and the other victims was entirely political. A leftist Bernie Sanders supporter would not and could not tolerate Republicans existing.
Papering that over with hugs and baseball games is as hollow and vapid as the utterly useless coexist bumper stickers. People cannot coexist when one group of people refuses to acknowledge that the other group even has the right to exist. Until liberals and Palestinians stop waging war, political peace is next to impossible and getting further and further away.
Islamists and leftists need to look inward, realize that they are the violence, and stop acting like themselves. Their politically correct defenders need to stop the cop-out excuse of claiming a violence ratio of less than 100%. The number of attempted killers in these groups should approach absolute zero.
Otherwise, when they come for the Liberal Democrats, the many decent conservative Republicans in America will not have the ability or inclination to speak up. Only after ideological bigotry is vanquished and all-out political war ends can real political peace talks begin.
