Americans built the America politicians are tearing apart

Written By | May 19, 2017

Missouri May 19, 2017-I felt compelled to write this article based on the chaos that currently is happening to our country. At the age of 87, I can say that I have never seen in my mature life what is happening today in and against America.

The major news outlet, politicians from both parties and former politicians, especially former President Obama, whose recently created organization has been created to cause political chaos and disrupt President Trumps administration and who said that President Trump spews “bullsh**t”, need to simply cut it out.

Does Obama hate America? Anyone that would actively work to break down our political and societal structure must hate America. Or, possibly, he just hates that his successor is undoing his “legacy”, in particular, Obamacare.

The childish blame game going on inside the beltway has to stop.  It has not only reached levels of schoolyard childishness, it is making America look like a young, inexperienced and uncontrolled country to the rest of the world. Those that poke at and bully others, like brutish eight-year-olds, need to stop. Those that make mistakes need to stand up and show some integrity.

Today’s world is very different from the world of my youth. Our “greatest generation” is dying out, and along with them the patriotism that was woven through our character in shades of red, white and blue.  Our belief in God and the knowledge that treating each other in a Christian manner, regardless of one’s religion, is completely antithetical to many under the age of fifty.

Too many in this country have forgotten that our Constitution means something and that our freedoms and way of life are worth fighting and dying, for. That our borders are sacrosanct for a reason, and that those who are given the opportunity to live here should want to live in America as an American.

As a veteran and American, I am not alone in being very interested in our national security. I am also not alone in being skeptical about the effectiveness of our national security. We need to be reassured that we are, despite being an open society, a secure country,

Americans, citizens and politicians alike, must stop acting like children in the schoolyard and start acting like adults entrusted with the well-being of all Americans and the well-being of Americans first. It is time to work together as a team, regardless of political agendas and personal egos. This is what we elect them to do. They are to be working for us, not just stoking the fires of their own political aspirations.

Our elected and appointed officials must constantly be reminded that even though some of us did not wear shoes when we were growing up and we may be considered naïve about worldly matters, God and our Constitution has given us the right to demand that we are led by politicians who put America, and Americans first.

Abraham Lincoln, our 16th president for those who are politically ill-informed, once said:

“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”

Now I and those of my generation fear that we are watching politicians eroding the America we built from inside the beltway out.

However, that is from the time and place I am from.
