WASHINGTON: Everything Trump does garners attention. However, both the Trump economy and the Trump agenda are getting a lot of attention. Unfortunately, there is a serious effort to credit Barack Obama for the economic growth that began two days after the 2016 election and our position in the world. The reality is President Donald J. Trump gets credit for the environment in which the economy is now flourishing. And the new found respect America is enjoying.
Former President Barack Obama does not get economic credit for the Trump agenda
As soon as it was clear that a businessman had won the election, the economic malaise began to evaporate. With the removal of the threat of another eight years of “benevolent” socialism and business hostility, the economic growth began.
The timing is too precise to be an accident.
Just the knowledge that the policies of Barack Obama were coming to an end two months after the election were all it took to render leftist economists Steve Ratner and Paul Krugman’s dire predictions of a market dive false. The mere fact that Trump won provided instant energy.
President Trump did not have to do anything except get government out of the way, and he knew it.
America is exceptional.
Not in the way that Kenyans think Kenya is exceptional or that the French think France is exceptional. Exceptional in how we rise, as a nation, to the occasion. Upon the news that Hillary would not be President, capitalists and entrepreneurs and investors responded with enthusiasm. Two days after the election, the market took off like a rabbit.
The left may credit whom it wishes to credit. It will never credit Trump. Or the Trump agenda. While there are always many coincidences wherever Democrats are involved, it is hard to see this as one of them: a belief that the fundamental soundness of Obama’s policies finally took hold only after his party lost.
Mr. “You Didn’t Build That,” along with his pen and phone, was already the lamest of ducks.
The Obama response to the Trump agenda
Obama set to work undermining Trump as best he could, but the end of business hostility and crushing regulation was a breath of fresh air to the nation. Obama’s legacy, what’s left of it, is blowing like a tumbleweed before a prairie wind.
Trump does not get all the credit. He does get all the credit, however, for loosening the bonds the Obama Administration placed on every aspect of America’s businesses. And for following through on his promise to scrap massive numbers of regulations. All of it. The credit all goes to President Trump. Obama gets none.
With ten trillion in new public debt, more than all his predecessors in history, the Obama economy was the costliest and slowest in history.
Trump inherited a Congress with a thirst for spending that spans the aisles.
President Trump got fooled in year one, run over by an omnibus, but even so his economic numbers in year one are better than Obama’s were. Trump’s GDP growth is far better. The economy is at a level Obama predicted that “we will never see again.”
American can be assured that Trump won’t sign an omnibus bill again. Congress knows it.
During the last Government shutdown (2013) the Democrats looked to the Republicans to take the blame. As with all things Trump, they were wrong. And once again, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer looked like an idiot. So Congress is doing its job, with ten of the FY19 Departmental budgets already passed by both Houses.
Make America Great Again
The real credit for the economy, as Trump well knows, goes to the companies and people that made it all happen. Those who embraced America First. America as exceptional. Our people, of all backgrounds, make the difference.
A concept that the liberal left can neither abide nor accept.
Under President Trump, we are experiencing a healthy sort of nationalism that replaces Obama’s America-demeaning leadership and bleak predictions with inspiration. President Trump dared to recognize the fact that a strong America is the linchpin of the world economy and a key factor in world political stability.
And as we watch President Trump at the annual United Nations confab, we see he is right.
Because, Mr. Obama, America and Americans are exceptional.
Because Mr. Obama, Americans are different. Your actions told us that in your opinion Americans are too stupid to know any better. As your crony, Hillary Clinton says, we’re “deplorables.” You, and Jonathan Gruber chose to fool us to get Obamacare enacted, saying a “lack of transparency is a huge political advantage…”
You orchestrated the sending of billions of dollars to Iran. Dollars passed on to terrorists. Dollars that got the Iran deal passed.
President Donald Trump – the best tool to fight the Democrat Socialist Party
The Democrats, ever more the party of Democrat socialism, are left to whine and grouse. Instead of finding new ways to lead, they try to find new ways to block conservative ideas by force. Or they attempt to cloak them in a false shroud of hate. All in order to protect the socialist agenda of big government and abortion, Democrats are lynching a man in the court of public opinion.
Only it isn’t working for them. The economy is strong. Peace is attainable between North and South Korea. We have a fair trade agreement with Mexico. And as evidenced by the UN meeting, we are once again respected on the foreign stage.
The real credit for our recovery goes to the people of America and the leadership of President Trump.
How did he do it? Mr. Trump got government out of the way forcefully moving the Democrats aside. The people did the rest. And that includes our black, Hispanic, white, male, female and other fellow-citizens, who have left the Democratic Party’s welfare plantation after sixty years and joined the ranks of the employed.
Off the welfare rolls, off food stamps, and on toward equality. After 60 years of the LBJ plantation, it was time for something new. As Maxine Waters said of Kanye, “he needs help adjusting his thinking.”
Au contraire, Maxine. He doesn’t play by your rules anymore. He is freed from monolithic thought.
The Blue Wave won’t be coming
There is not a blue wave on the horizon. The economy is the best in history. Black and Hispanic and female unemployment are at all-time lows. Black and Hispanic support for Trump is increasing. The tax cuts have made American goods competitive again and are directly benefitting the average American. Even if Nanny Pelosi calls it peanuts.
Americans do not want a life of AntiFa or the harassing officials in restaurants. That Little Red Hen nitwits in Lexington, Virginia severely damaged the local economy. All by acting like a classless jerk, interjecting politics into dinner.
The antics over Kavanaugh aren’t helping either. People see what is going on and they don’t like it. They do not want constant disruption and resistance to the person elected President, no matter which Party wins. I am not sure that the screaming about impeaching Trump and investigating him and all his appointees, and blocking all his plans, and “just wait until we get back in power and we’ll fix your little red wagon” attitude are all that appealing.
Trump and the American people get all the credit.
The left gets zero. And that is only because it is the least we can give you.
