BUFFALO, NY — Toyota’s Land Cruiser has evolved into a flagship SUV for the Toyota lineup. The 2019 model returns with a posh, feature-laden cabin with space for eight. Its body-on-frame SUV retains the off-road DNA for which it is known the world over thanks to its full-time 4WD system and features like Crawl Control and Multi-Terrain Select, and yet its on-road manners are smooth thanks to its Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System.
The Land Cruiser is powered by a 381-hp 5.7-liter V8 mated to an 8-speed automatic with Four-Wheel Drive with Advanced Chassis Control and an 8,100-pound Towing Capacity. This is a very capable full-size SUV that offers a commanding view of the roadway. This, of course, means that the fuel economy is not high but a reasonable MPG: 13 city / 18 highway. The good news is that there is plenty of seating for 8 people.
The negatives include the lack of passenger front seat lumbar, this SUV can feel large compared to its competition, tight third-row seating, and touchy gas and brake pedal responses which you will get used too quickly.
The are plenty of pros for this truck, including the DAD rear entertainment system that is standard. All Land Cruiser’s come loaded with all the goodies so your only decision is color.
Pricing is comparable to others in this segment at $85,165.
