ST. LOUIS, Jan. 10, 2016 — I am a senior who grew up during the Depression and remembers the many wars this country has been involved in. I have seen tremendous patriotism by Americans.
Today that patriotism is being threatened by political correctness. Many citizens and politicians are afraid to speak out and tell the truth because, if they do, they will be accused of being biased or prejudiced.
This point was recently demonstrated in the San Bernardino shootings. The neighbor of the terrorists saw strange people going in and out of the home and noticed work taking place late at night.
After the attack, the neighbor stated she was afraid to say anything because of being called a racist. Political correctness dissuaded her from reporting suspicious activities.
Now even the FBI is saying we must be the eyes and ears and call the police to inform them if something we see or hear is suspicious.
Some politicians say we should let women and children refugees into the country. They seem unaware that ISIS and other terrorist groups are recruiting women and children. They must have missed the pictures showing young recruits cutting he heads off of their enemies. Women have participated in terrorist attacks in Chad, Paris and even San Bernardino.
Political correctness even keeps leaders from calling Muslims who commit acts of terror Islamic terrorists. Logic says that there is something very wrong if we can’t even identify the enemy who wants to destroy us, our country and our way of life.
A recent article by Sean Piccoli in Newsmax reflects just how political correctness is hurting us.
“The Obama administration’s refusal to acknowledge the link between Islamic extremism and terrorism for fear of offending Muslims is depriving law enforcement and intelligence professionals of a critical and common-sense tool — profiling — for identifying the people most likely to attempt attacks, says a former Justice Department anti-terrorism adviser.
We have a problem with gathering intelligence on our enemies. Why don’t we recruit Americans who are Muslims to infiltrate radical mosques and terrorist organization as undercover agents? Law enforcement and intelligence agencies have used this tactic against threats in the past. Why don’t we do it now?
Mosques that are advocating violence should be shut down. This is not a move against Islam. It is a move against violence and hate.
We need to talk to American Muslim leaders to speak out about Islamic terrorism. This should be done by Muslim leaders in an organized fashion.
These leaders need to counter the messages of violence in the Quran itself. The Quran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers for the sake of Islamic rule. Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers and kill infidels wherever they may be hiding. Muslims who do not join the fight are called “hypocrites” and warned that Allah will send them to Hell if they do not join the slaughter.
Quran 3:151: “As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help.”
Most important, we must stop worrying so much about political correctness. Instead of political correctness, we must adopt transparency and truth. This will make our country strong again and respected not only by the citizens not only of our country but also of others. We must accomplish our goals by actions, not just words.
We have to understand we are at war with terror, even if that is politically incorrect.
However, that’s a time and place I am from.
