SILVER SPRING, Md, June 15, 2013 – Matilda and Hans are two very different cats. Matilda is a sweet, well-behaved little cat, and Hans naughty and trouble-causing cat. While Hans is a prankster, the breaking point for the town is when he breaks into the zoo one night and releases all the animals.
The next day, Matilda sees a poster offering a reward for information about Hans, so she tells the police where they can find him. Sure enough, the police caught Hans thanks to Matilda’s information. But when they take off Hans’s hat and mask, the police are surprised to find that it has been Matilda making trouble all along. Regardless of being guilty, Matilda still asks for the reward, promising that Hans would be good from that point on.
This is a good book for young children because there are very few words per page, so you do not to have to worry about short attention spans. Children will be able to relate to the idea that everyone can be naughty or nice. The story is fun and a quick read, so parents will not mind reading it three times in a row as your little one demands “again!”
The artwork is done in a simple cartoon style. The details in each drawing perfectly match and enhance the words on the specific page. Color is used effectively to contrast the difference between Matilda and Hans.
