SEATTLE, May 30, 2014 — Join Chef Mary Moran and myself tomorrow, May 31 at 1pm EST for a wine-tasting guide with four of her favorite picnic foods. We’ll be taking you on a virtual tasting trip to from Napa to Spain this time around with one wine thrown in from Austria as well.
Picnic foods play well with the lighter, fruiter and yes even drier wines which help bring a good sense of freshness and cleansing of the palate we love when chowing down around the picnic table. For this line-up, we received a nice selection from importer Folio Fine Wine Partners out of Napa.
As always, we will focus on wines we feel will compliment the foods and actually help highlight the joys of eating outside with friends and family. Here’s the breakdown of the wines we’ll be sipping and talking about.
- 2013 Oberon Sauvignon Blanc – Napa Valley
- 2011 Artazuri Garnacha Rosé – Navarra, Spain
- 2012 Fillaboa Albarino – Rias Baixas, Spain
- 2012 Laurenz V Singing Grüner Veltliner – Austria
We’ll be pairing each wine with the four dishes Mary has created and talking about some optional choices as well. These wines should have good national distribution so finding them in your local store shouldn’t be too difficult.
