Cherishing your family’s past with creative photo projects

When you stop to appreciate all the good things that have happened to you, it can help you gain perspective.

BOISE, Idaho, Jan. 20, 2016 – It can be easy to get caught up in daily living and forget to reflect on the past. Most people spend time considering their career success, but is it also important to look at personal success. Reflecting on the good times of the past should give you plenty of motivation to start working on any of your new goals.

This year, instead of focusing exclusively on new goals and aspirations, take time to look back at how far you have come and organize your memorabilia so you can treasure past experiences.

Gaining perspective
When you stop to appreciate all the good things that have happened to you, it can help you gain perspective. Take time to reflect on experiences not to dwell in the past, but to use those memories like a rocket booster to propel yourself forward.

This New Year, quietly look back and think about all the ways you have grown in your career and your personal life. Look at the challenges you have had and the rewards you have gained from conquering those challenges.

Sorting and Organizing
This year, try spending some time organizing your family photos, so you can turn them into permanent keepsakes.

There are so many things you can do with photos.. Following are some ideas:

Make an online album to share with friends and family.
Pick a few favorites and have them enlarged and framed.
Focus on some special events or milestones and make some photobooks about them.
Create homemade cards out of early childhood pictures to save and send as birthday cards.

  • Make a photo collage of some of the memorable moments.
  • Possibly add a wall mural to your home decor.
  • Make a childhood photo album for each of your children.
  • Put together an album for yourself out of some of your family’s really old black and white photos.

Avoiding the winter blues
Organizing and cherishing photos helps appreciate all your wonderful memories. Keeping busy also helps fight off any symptoms of seasonal affective disorder and gives you something productive to do in your spare time.
