CALGARY, AB:  One thing Canada knows how to do is have a street party.  And while Montreal, Quebec may be the reigning queen of street fare, Calgary in Alberta is showing them how to do it with some Rocky Mountain swagger.  From September nineteenth to the twenty-third,  enormous electric bolts will light up the sky in downtown Calgary as a cacophony of exhibits and events takes over the city. Beakerhead 2018 and Beakernight is the result of a years worth of educational programs that meets at “the crossroads of art, science and engineering.”

Beakerhead is a registered charity whose mandate is to advance education by bringing people together through a series of year-round programs.  The five-day citywide spectacle in September features more than 60 events centered around bizarre engineered installations and artworks.

Beakerhead is honored to be a platform for projects led by members of the community from all cultures.

The Beakerhead 2018 crew is announcing the official program lineup.

This year’s extravaganza will include remarkable spectacles of art and science, unique activities, and more than 50 distinct events – many of which are free, but still require registration to get tickets.

The Calgary-born art, science and engineering street party is in its sixth year. Last year, more than 145,000 people participated in Beakerhead 2017 and organizers are planning to top that number during Beakerhead 2018.

“Expect conversations that start with “Wow!” says Mary Anne Moser, President and Co-founder of Beakerhead. “This year’s lineup includes a lot of original concepts, special culinary events, dozens of workshops, shows and tours.”

Beakerhead events take place indoors and out.
