NAPA, CA, November 6, 2017 – Northern California wine country came together yesterday to honor the courageous and relentless firefighters, police, emergency workers, medical staff, national guard and others who provided heroic service during the recent Napa and Sonoma wildfires.
Wine Country Strong
These fires are amount 10 of the most destructive state wildfires California has ever seen.
While fighting the fires, nine firefighters lost their own homes while saving hundreds of others. It is this sort of selfless heroism that brought the community together yesterday.
People from all walks of life gathered in Yountville, California at the Lincoln Theatre to honor these everyday heroes. First responders, their families and the entire wine country community were on hand for this day of celebration.
The day kicked off with a free concert in the theatre. These weren’t just local bands coming together to support these amazing people, but big time names such as Ozomatli, Silverado Pickups, Morris LeGrande and Cosmos Percussion Orchestra.
The Silverado Pickups at Wine Country Strong
The Silverado Pickups are wine country’s rockers. Napa and Sonoma winemakers and owners make up the band that recently was seen rockin’ out at BottleRock Napa Valley.
Two things really stole the Wine Country Strong show.
First, the Ozomatli performance. This LA based band really knows how to liven up a party. With their upbeat sound that is an awesome blend of Latin, jazz, blues, hop-hop and funk, they possess a sound that is truly their own. Attendees were dancing in the aisles throughout the show. Ozo played such fan favorites as After Party, Cumbia de Los Muertos and Can’t Stop.
In a proper party, conga line fashion, the band grabbed their instruments off the stage and played their way into the lobby where they played out the last song of their show.
The crowd encircled the band, yelling and screaming in approval and adoration.
After Ozo wrapped their set, the concert-goers ventured outside to the wine and food Mecca that awaited them. Guests enjoyed a free chef’s picnic and wine tasting courtesy of the Festival Napa Valley and the Boisett Collection,
Wine Country Strong a huge success
JCB kicked things off with two of his sparkling wines and wineries such as Alpha Omega, Darioush, Frank Family Vineyards, Hess Family Wines, and Raymond poured their luscious juice.
Guests danced, ate and drank the afternoon away until darkness crept in and put an end to the festivities.
Wine Country Strong was free for first responders and their families and for the entire community. Donations were accepted for the Napa Valley Community Foundation Disaster Relief Fund, Sonoma County Community Foundation Resilience Fund, and CAL Fire Firefighter Relief Fund.
