Walk right in, sit right down … Letterman welcomes Stephen Colbert to Late Night

WASHINGTON, April 23, 2014 – Stephen Colbert took the guest seat on The Late Show with David Letterman – in preparation for his taking on the funny man’s seat behind the desk when Letterman retires next year.

Letterman, who holds the honor of being the longest running late-night host, seemed generally pleased to greet Colbert, who walked in to Paul Shaffer leading the band in Walk Right In, Sit Right Down…

Dave gave an early baton pass to Colbert saying “They could have hired a boob like me…” to which Colbert quipped “Every boob is like a snowflake, Dave, they are each unique in their own way”

Colbert also shared an anecdote about visiting the show, when at NBC, as his girlfriend wanted to apply for an internship. Colbert ended up being interview, was accepted, however he turned them down. When asked why, he responded “Because you do not pay people Dave, but this job I’m taking here, it pays.”

Then they took a selfie together…
