WASHINGTON, October 11, 2015 – While the cast, glitteria, and some lucky fans got to attend last nights fan party to celebrate the premier of Season 6 of The Walking Dead, the rest of us have to be make due with tonight’s premier of Season 6 – and in reality that is not a bad second choice.
Join Communities Digital News as we launch our 6th season of live chats during The Walking Dead and followed by The Talking Dead. We will get started promptly at 9:00 pm. (scroll below chat for more videos and predictions)
It promises to be quite the premier, and quite the season with teases Daryl may not share the same viewpoint of – anyone – this season.
Daryl has always had his own demons. This year it’s The Wolves.
“Daryl and Morgan haven’t really gone toe-to-toe yet. I think that might be coming.”
The commercial teases, video and interviews with cast and crew promise that the conflict will be with giant zombie herds and each other. The drama will stem from not only the drive to survive, but also the interplay between the Rick Grimes game who will be fighting for Alexandria.
Reedus has said that we will see “A lot of mistrust, and a lot of conflict inside the walls of Alexandria on how that place is supposed to be run, and who’s willing to trust whom.”
On the top of the mis-trust list is Father Gabriel who seemed to be inviting his own death last season. Teases are that he might get his wish tonight as an epic moment coming between Rick Grimes and Father Gabriel may send the good padre to meet his maker?
The commercials show Deeana supporting Rick, but now we also have Morgan – who has a decidedly different world view when it comes to survival.
Leaks of new cast members include “Nurse Jackie” alum Merritt Wever will play comic book character Dr. Denise Cloyd, whose medical skills will certainly come in handy after the death of Pete last season.
Ethan Embry will play Carter, who is a composite of a number of characters from the comic.
“Ethan plays a combo of a few characters that we actually haven’t hit yet or weren’t able to hit in other characters,” show runner Scott Gimple has said. “He is an Alexandrian, and has been there the whole time, just quite busy.”
AMC breaks down The Walking Dead Season 6:
Season five of “The Walking Dead” saw our group being formed into consummate survivors by the world around them… nearly making some of the survivors into villains. To make it as far as they have, through all of their heartbreaking challenges, they have evolved into incredibly powerful people. But who have they become?
The last five episodes of Season Five answered that question with Rick accepting an approach of full brutality in murdering Pete, a fellow Alexandrian.
Season six starts with Alexandria’s safety shattered by multiple threats. To make it, the people of Alexandria will need to catch up with our survivors’ hardness while many of our survivors will need to take a step back from the violence and pragmatism they’ve needed to embrace. These reversals won’t happen easily, or without conflict.
But now Rick’s group is fighting for something more than survival… They’re fighting for their home, and they will defend that at any cost, against any threat, even if that threat comes from within.
Season six is promised to be better than Season 5 leading to the question “Just how long can you hold your breath?”
