ANAHEIM, CA: Imagine you hear loud noises outside your home early one morning. You get up to investigate. Looking out your bedroom window to the lot next door, you see a construction crew is tearing down an old condemned house that had been sitting for two years. You’re glad someone bought it and was going to fix things up but one of the crew catches your eye. His saggy pants were hard to miss.
A young man who looked about thirty was wearing his pants below his rear end showing a bright red pair of underwear!
Is this indecent exposure or a fashion statement? We are asking people to weigh in on a common sight popping up around the country for a while now. Exposing one’s underwear is vogue? Who comes up with this? While it’s mostly men sighted I have seen a few ladies exposing the hip straps of their G-strings too.
In southern California where I live, it’s frequently on display. This fashion statement seemed to have started with very young men then more recently men closer to middle-age adopting it.
Just the way you have to walk to keep your pants up alone should deter someone from wearing pants in such a manner. However, some seem to be undaunted by the inconvenience of an unusually large gate and walking in an awkward manner. They seem proud to display their undies to the world whether we want to see them or not.
In my day your parents would not have let you out of the house dressed this way; your peers would have laughed at you.
I am not a young, but I don’t think you need to be young to weigh in on this, I find it rather offensive. In my opinion it’s completely unnecessary and more along the lines of indecent exposure rather fashion statement. In my day your parents would not have let you out of the house dressed this way. Your peers would have laughed at you.
On the video my 13 year old grandson Marcus shares his assessment of the pants-below-the-buttocks fad. This way you get two opinions; young and old.
I can’t believe it can be healthy for a person to walk the way they do to keep their pants from falling completely down. Patrick, Marcus, and I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject. Leave comments below.
And as always, if you have a something you want to see covered on the Kravitz Report send me an email. Have a wonderful week!
