Roger Stone on ABC This Week: Accusations are “Full of Schiff”

Roger Stone angrily denied any collusion with the Russians during the 2016 election and said he was eager to testify publicly, denouncing the allegations as "demagoguery, red-baiting" McCarthyism, and calling Congressman Adam Schiff's accusations as being "full of Schiff".

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 25, 2017 – Roger Stone insisted on This Week with George Stephanopoulos that there was no collusion between himself and the Russian Government and that he had been the victim of “demagoguery, fear-mongering, red-baiting, half truths and in many cases flat-out lies.”

Stone started the interview by saying that Congressman Adam Schiff’s accusations of his involvement with the Russian government were “full of Schiff.”

“You have a bunch of Congressmen here who have defamed me,” he remarked,

“In America, you’re supposed to have a chance to see the evidence against us and face our accusers. I’m very anxious to do that. If Mr (Carter) Page and Mr. (Paul) Manafort do the same thing, frankly I think the whole Russian meme, which really starts as a Clinton campaign press release, is finally put to bed.”

Stone had previously called the accusations against him abject “McCarthyism”.
Regarding his comments on John Podesta implying he had previous knowledge of the hack of his email account Stone emphasized, ”I never made any reference to John Podesta’s emails. There were dozens of stories about his business dealings published after that…”

Stephanopoulos then insisted that Stone had tweeted “Trust me it will soon be Podesta’s time in the barrel”, and two months later the emails came out.”

Stone countered,

“Does it say #Wikileaks, #Assange. (Schiff) said Stone predicted his emails would be hacked. No, I didn’t. I never said anything of the kind. This is a scandal in search of evidence.”

“The reference to Podesta is general, not specific. And by the way, he does have his time in the barrel shortly thereafter”, based on the stories about his business dealings.”

Asked about contact with Guccifer 2 and whether he used encrypted apps to communicate with the alleged Russian hacker, Stone scoffed,

“The inference that my communication – actually my exchange with Guccifer 2, which is entirely on Twitter….constitutes collusion with the Russians is absurd.”

Stone went on saying,

“My communication with him is now entirely public. It is benign. Not exactly 007 stuff. I reiterate again, I have had no contacts or collusion with the Russians.”

“My exchange with Guccifer 2…most certainly does not constitute collusion. My brief exchange with him is 6 weeks after the hacking of and publication of the DNC documents. In other words, I would need a time machine in order to collude.”

Stone emphasized that he was eager to testify in public about the accusations and looked forward to clearing his name in public.

It promises to be an Oliver North moment in what has been a lengthy campaign of smears and innuendo from within Democrat party circles clearly upset over Hillary Clinton’s loss of the Presidency after spending over a billion dollars of donor money on her losing presidential campaign.
