SAN DIEGO, September 14, 2015 – The baker’s dozen of couples will perform for the first time as “Dancing With the Stars” launches Season 21 with a brand new cast of competitors including a celebrity chef, R&B superstar, Internet star, former boy band heartthrob, and the first jockey to win the Triple Crown in three decades among the lineup.
Communities Digital News will be right there with our first live online chat of the season. We are all eager to see these stars strut their stuff, and we are hoping for plenty of surprises.
Monday’s show begins with what ABC is calling “the biggest dance number in DWTS history,” staged and filmed on Hollywood Boulevard. Then we see all 13 couples dancing either a Cha Cha, Foxtrot, Salsa, Quickstep, or Jive. No one will be eliminated this week, but fan votes will count toward elimination in week 2.
No tens from Len this year. Judge Len Goodman is staying home in England and won’t appear on Season 21. There will be just three judges: Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough, and Bruno Tonioli. There will be no guest judges this year. Goodman says he will probably return for Season 22 in the spring.
There will be no Tuesday elimination shows, but there is a second show on Tuesday this first week. Viewers will get to see replays of the first night of dancing, plus extended behind the scenes video of training and interviews.
Producers promise the classic theme weeks like “Most Memorable Year of My Life” will be back, along with some brand new themes they are keeping secret.
“Dancing With the Stars” debuts Monday, September 14 at 8 p.m. Eastern/Pacific Time on the ABC Television Network.
