WASHINGTON, March 10, 2018: We’re a bit late highlighting last week’s most intriguing MSM nonsense. It seams most headlines focused on those scary Trump tariffs on subsidized foreign steel and aluminum imports. In addition, Soros-subsidized anti-gun demos, the ongoing #MeToo campaign and the never-ending climate change nonsense were also on tap.
With regard to those Trump tariffs: Let’s begin with a classic Trump tweet that set the table for this week’s MSM fake news conniption fit. Via TheDC:
If the E.U. wants to further increase their already massive tariffs and barriers on U.S. companies doing business there, we will simply apply a Tax on their Cars which freely pour into the U.S. They make it impossible for our cars (and more) to sell there. Big trade imbalance!

Media response to the Trump tariffs
First of all, the usual suspects at CNN went on the attack immediately, as Don Surber duly noted.
“Trump’s imposition of tariffs drew quick rebuke from CNN.
“‘Europe is preparing to impose tariffs on Harley-Davidson motorbikes, bourbon whiskey and Levi’s jeans in retaliation for President Donald Trump’s planned taxes on steel and aluminum imports,” the Fake News network said.
“No bourbon, no jeans, no Harleys. This is the end of biker rallies in Europe.
“But instead of showing how we would lose in a trade war, the pathetic threat of retaliation shows that the world has been eating our lunch for decades.
“They unload tons of steel and aluminum on us, while buying a few trinkets: a motorcycle, a few bottles of booze, and a few pairs of jeans. Sure, Harley, Jim Beam, and Levi’s are iconic American products, but a $19 trillion economy needs much more than that.
“The problem with threats by Europe to retaliate is that they have nothing to retaliate with.
“China makes a half-trillion-dollars a year profit off the USA.
“Time to re-negotiate on our terms.”
Meanwhile, in other Surber-reported snooze related to the Trump tarrifs:
In addition, notes Don,
“Yahoo News informed readers, ‘Trump tariffs could make metal baseball bats more expensive.’
“So, in order to have cheap bats, we should kill our aluminum and steel industries — and imperil the national defense? That’s crazy, capital CRA.”
Comments: The nuanced approach to the Trump tariffs, announced by the President Thursday, will put this nonsense in temporary hibernation. The president made it pretty clear to any rational being that the actual imposition of tariffs would be based on the economic responses of those countries involved. In other words, tired of waiting, Trump demands that foreign exporters step up to the plate to address their persistent trade surpluses with the U.S. Sounds rational to us.
The Trump tariffs are obviously a moving targe. We’ll do our best to keep up with this ongoing MAGA brouhaha.
It’s #MeToo time. Again.
Now, moving right along from our coverage of the Trump tariffs here’s another especially relevant meme development. Back in Hollywood’s #MeToo Land, Instapundit took aim via the following comment and link to Mashable:
OH, PISS OFF: John Krasinski Says Men Should Not Pat Themselves On The Back For Not Sexually Harassing Women. What about not punching virtue-signaling twerps?
Comment: We’re actually sympathetic to women victimized by Hollywood’s male-dominated sexual free-for-all culture. But that’s been going on since the days of Fatty Arbuckle. Why has no one complained until now? Seriously? Devil’s bargains can work for both parties. Until they don’t.
Soros & Co. milk Florida school massacre with eye toward Election 2018
While other items have started crowding out the latest anti-gun efforts of the left, the MSM isn’t allowing the recent tragic school shootings in Florida to fall out of the headlines. Don’t think those media pundits are actually sympathizing with the bereaved. It seems like the Soros-Media Matters-MSM complex has co-opted this tragedy with a pre-planned Election 2018 attack on the 2nd Amendment. Clearly, this Axis of Evil has made it clear they’ll brook no variations from their carefully crafted political playbook. It seems like they could care less about the victims. For them, it’s all about left-wing politics. Victims and ignorant, left-wing student stooges alike are just props for these lefties. Newsbusters link and comment below, again via Instapundit.
HARSHING THE NARRATIVE: Politico Writer Angry at Broward Sheriff for Hurting Liberal Anti-NRA Narrative.
Just think of the media as Democratic activists with bylines, and it all makes sense. ™
On related matters, yet another Instalink to Newsbusters:
Our take on the left’s shameless exploitation of schoolkids
Comment: From the notorious, clearly pre-scripted CNN “Town Hall” on the school massacre to the present, note the reality show narrative rollout of radical left-wing arguments. Most noteworthy, some of these “spontaneous” outbursts erupt from the mouths of clearly pre-programmed student puppets who show up for fawning media interviews. Watch them. Most noteworthy: Their responses seem carefully scripted like those of professional politicians.
The real story here is about who creates these scripted attacks on Republicans, conservatives and Second Amendment supporters? More important: Who’s been looking into this? Answer: No one. It seems like most of today’s left-wing media darlings have not only drunk the Alinsky kool-aid. They are also the laziest, most grossly overpaid underachievers in the known universe. Talk about selling out to the establishment.
The latest on
global warming climate change
Let’s conclude today’s column by noting the latest “settled science” on global warming climate change. The following entry was penned by those nefarious climate denialists at TheDC:
“A group of prominent scientists are calling for a global network of advanced weather stations that don’t need to go through controversial data adjustments, and it’s vindication for global warming skeptics.
“Seventeen climate scientists co-authored a research article published in the International Journal of Climatology calling for a global climate station network modeled after the United States Climate Reference Network (USCRN) to use as a baseline for data quality.
“‘Already after 10 years, the USCRN has been used to validate United States annual surface air temperature anomalies as determined by homogenized standard network observations,’ the scientists wrote.
“The article, led by Maynooth University climatologist Peter Thorne, argued for a ‘suitably stable and metrologically well-characterized global land surface climate fiducial reference measurements network.’
“For meteorologist Anthony Watts this is a big moment. Watts published research in 2015 that found scientists used ‘compromised’ weather stations to make adjustments to U.S. temperature data that inflated the warming trend by as much as 50 percent.”
TheDC drives it home
“‘To me, this feels like vindication,’ Watts wrote on his blog Watts Up With That. ‘For years, I’ve been pointing out just how bad the U.S. and global surface monitoring network has been.’
“‘We’ve seen stations that are on pavement, at airports collecting jet exhaust, and failing instruments reading high, and right next to the heat output of air conditioning systems,’ wrote Watts.”
Comment: Calling Dr. Mann. Calling Dr. Mann. We’ve been preaching against this kind of climatista nonsense for years. In addition, we’ve known for many years that the “settled science” on “global warming” (now cleverly disguised as “climate change”) is entirely bogus. Now, real scientists are starting to break through the climatistas’ fatwa on “denialists’”tenure track careers. About time. BTW, above italics are ours. BTW2: We thought Maynooth was an Irish Catholic seminary college. Apparently, things change.
