CHARLOTTE, N.C,. Aug. 14, 2016 – In the words of Barack Obama, “ISIS is not Islam.” And in the words of Hillary Clinton, “What difference, at this point, does it make?”
We have all heard them over and over again.
So when Donald Trump says in an off-the-cuff remark that Mr. Obama and Ms. Clinton “created ISIS,” why are they so upset? “ISIS isn’t Islam,” and if “it doesn’t make any difference,” why the big hullabaloo?
We know why. It’s called a double standard. A media double standard that Donald Trump has exposed, placing the media itself in the unaccustomed bright lights and glare of criticism.
Trump made an offhand remark about the Second Amendment and the media went ballistic. Then the conservative side of the aisle pointed out occasions where Obama, Clinton, John Kerry and Joe Biden said even worse things without getting so much as a whimper from the press.
Everyone knows that the president and his former secretary of state did not actually “establish” ISIS. But, those who are honest also know that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have done much to enable and empower the terror scourge of the planet either directly or indirectly through their policies, which have never taken terrorism seriously enough.
Has anyone noticed how Trump’s so-called “gaffes” always seem to have an element of truth behind them?
When Joe Biden told wheelchair-ridden Missouri state Sen. Chuck Graham to “stand up, let the people see you,” that was a gaffe. One among many uttered over the years by “Good Ole Joe.”
But let Donald Trump shoot an arrow directly toward the heart of the matter and that’s very different. That’s because Republicans are not allowed to fight back. Only Democrats can make politically incorrect slurs and get away with them because they are the only “party of the people” and everyone knows how compassionate they really and truly are.
Amazingly enough, but not surprisingly, many well-respected members of the mainstream media spent the day after Trump made his NRA comments ignoring the day’s most important and true story, Clinton’s release of emails, most of which clearly demonstrated her lack of regard for America or Americans’ security. Instead, they chose to overblow the non-story of Trump pointing out the social media and lobbying power possessed the NRA.
In the article Media in frenzy over Trump claim that Obama and Hillary founded ISIS, ignores DIA document showing how they did, Robert Spencer writes for Jihadi Watch:
Strictly speaking, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi founded the Islamic State (ISIS) as al-Qaeda in Iraq. But it was Obama and Hillary who empowered it and made the decisions that led to it occupying and holding an expanse of territory larger than Great Britain. The media is acting full-on as the Democratic Party’s press agency now, firing at Trump in every possible way, and thereby showing how deeply threatened the political and media elites are by his candidacy. This attack is particularly egregious: trumpeting as a “gaffe” a statement that, while manifesting some rhetorical overstatement, has a great deal of truth to it.”
While the media focus on Trump’s words, the candidate himself has been claiming that an August 2012 report by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), declassified and released last year under a Freedom of Information Act request from Judicial Watch, stated:
..there is the possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist principality in Eastern Syria, and this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime.
The term “supporting powers” means “Western countries,” which would certainly include (and is probably led by) the United States. Hillary was the secretary of state at that time and Barack Obama is still Commander in chief.
Donald Trump has never held political office, but the media seem to think his campaign speeches carry more weight than the current administration’s actual deeds.
The DIA report went on to note, as Spencer points out, that United States assistance to al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood and other terrorist groups in the region could develop into something “very nasty” in Syria. Spencer writes:
The DIA report said, in essence, that if we (the U.S. and our local cronies) keep aiding al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood, and other such sterling democrats, something really nasty would arise in eastern Syria. Several months later, it did, when ISIS declared itself a state straddling the Syria-Iraq border.
Not heeding the DIA report, America—and its feckless federal government—soon found they were confronting a “jayvee team” that is beheading people and airing those “executions” on the internet, burning people alive, recruiting kids to become martyrs for the cause, burning down churches and performing multiple terrorist attacks throughout the world, attacks that have killed hundreds, if not thousands, of innocent people.
Yet despite the admittedly inconvenient truths that lie at the core of Trump’s “created ISIS” statement, Democrats and the mainstream media (MSM) feign outrage in order to obfuscate Trump’s frankness so that nobody finds out that the growing international chaos is a whole lot worse than the president, vice president, Hillary Clinton or John Kerry wants us to know.
In addition, the Obama administration has made a phony deal with Iran that allows that rogue nation to continue building nuclear weapons while they use the millions of taxpayer dollars we have recklessly given them in exchange for American hostages which, despite all appearance to the contrary according to Obama, was not really ransom.
Donald Trump may indeed make people shake their heads at times. But when the nitty gets gritty, there is frequently more truth in what he says than our noble MSM is willing to acknowledge. Yet it remains a fact that neither Obama nor Hillary are likely to have uttered one word of truth since being in power.
The blame is not entirely on the politicians, however. Much of it lies at the doorstep of the ever-pliable MSM, labeled by Instapundit’s Glenn Reynolds as “Democrat operatives with bylines.” Obama and Clinton both have lengthy records of political corruption. All it will take to expose this fact is a legitimate journalistic core of honest reporters willing to put two and two together.
But then again, “What difference, at this point, does it make?”
