SAN DIEGO, April 12, 2015 – “Game of Thrones” returns for the highly anticipated season 5 with “The Wars to Come” on Sunday at 9 p.m. Fans can be excused for going a little crazy after waiting for 10 months.
Communities will host the first live chat of season 5. It’s a lot more fun to watch with friends, so plan to join us.
Season 4 was difficult for many fans: Prince Oberyn’s terrible death, the narrow escape of Tyrion after being tried for the murder of King Joffrey, the unknown fates waiting for Bran, Sansa, and Arya Stark. Can Danaerys Targaryen get control of her people and her dragons?
Important new characters join the already large cast, including the “Sand Snakes,” the name for Prince Oberyn’s bastard daughters who want nothing more than to avenge his death; Doran Martell, the late Prince Oberyn’s brother; the High Sparrow, a mysterious and powerful religious leader; and shadowy figures at the House of Black and White who may not be as they seem.
Producers promise more deviation from the original novel plotlines, and after this season the television series will be ahead of the novels, with author George R.R. Martin’s guidance and blessing.
“Game of Thrones: Season 5” debuts with episode 1, “The Wars to Come” on Sunday at 9 p.m. on HBO. Communities Digital News will host a live chat for fans of the show starting at 8:45 p.m. and continuing after the show for post-broadcast discussion.
